Croatian President Visiting Afghanistan

ZAGREB, August 24, 2018 - Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović is paying a visit to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, and this has been her third visit to that Assian country during her presidential term, the Offfice of the Croatian head of state says in a press release issued on Friday.

The programme of her visit includes meetings with Croatian troops in Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif. The Croatian contingent has been deployed within the NATO-led peace missions in Afghanistan since 2003.

About 100 Croatian troops currently have non-combat roles within NATO's train, advise, and assist mission.

During her stay in Afghanistan, Grabar-Kitarović will meet the commander of the Resolute Support mission, John W. Nicholson, and other representatives of the international community.

She is due to be received by her Afghan counterpart, Ashraf Ghani.
