ZAGREB, August 28, 2018 - Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković arrived in Germany on Monday for a two-day visit and announced, addressing the Croat community at the Croatian Embassy in Berlin, an action plan for enhancing Croatian-German economic relations.
"Tomorrow we will propose to the German side a ten-item action plan which our two foreign ministries have been preparing for some time so that we can identify topics and groups of topics as a framework for improving cooperation with Germany, which is already one of the biggest investors in Croatia. It will be a sort of road map of our relations with Germany," Plenković said.
On Tuesday, he will meet with Chancellor Angela Merkel. He said they would also discuss the situation in Southeast Europe, including migration, which he said was a very important topic for Germany. Talks will also address Croatia's bid to join the Schengen Area as a form of tighter integration within the European Union.
Plenković said the meeting with Merkel was agreed as part of the Berlin Process in Berlin in early July and that it would serve as a preparation for an important election year in Europe.
He underlined the importance of Germany and its government, saying they were a "factor of stability" in Europe.
He thanked representatives of Croatian expats for their contribution to German-Croatian relations.
