Croatian Handball Team Started The Preparations For Olympic Qualification Tournament

National team is in Ivanić Grad, with only three days to prepare for the tournament which is starting on Friday

There is no rest for the Croatian handball team. A short period after the EURO and in the peak of club season, players have traveled to Ivanić Grad to prepare for the Olympic qualification tournament this weekend. The first training was scheduled today, April 4, 2016, with some injured players in the team.

Croatia has big hopes for the Rio Olympics, as Croatian handball team is considered to be a favorite, but to even get to Rio, the team will have to go trough a tough tournament in Herning, Denmark this weekend. Croatia will face the home team, Bahrein, and Norway there, so, at least, one of the best European teams will not be in Rio this year.

Croatia is hoping to avoid this, as the team has got the bronze medal in Poland on the last big tournament, but it is everything but an easy task. Some of the key players, captain Marko Kopljar and left back Ivan Slišković are injured, but coach Babić is counting on them, as they are keen to play this weekend and help Croatian cause in the tournament.

Željko Babić has called twenty players for this action, and he is planning to take all of them to Herning, so he can decide his final pick on the spot, with as many information as he can get.
Total Croatia News will bring you full coverage of the tournament, which kicks off on Friday.
