Andre Agassi vs. Goran Ivanišević at the ATP Croatia Open 2016

A very special treat awaits visitors of the Croatia Open ATP 2016 tennis tournament in Umag, Glas Istre reports today, April 7, 2016. A repeat of the 1992 Wimbledon men’s final match! The American tennis legend Andre Agassi has accepted an invitation from Goran Ivanišević to join him for an exhibition match to mark the opening of the 27th instalment of the Croatia Open ATP 250 tournament in the town of Umag in North-western Istria.

The popular tournament is set to take place July 15-24, 2016 and Andre Agassi and Goran Ivanišević will play their match at the central court of the seaside Stella Maris tennis complex in Umag on Saturday, July 16. In 1992, Agassi had won the Wimbledon final against Ivanišević with 6:7, 6:4, 6:4, 1:6 and 6:4 for his first and only Wimbledon title. Ivanišević had to wait for 9 more years until he beat Australia’s Patrick Rafter for his Wimbledon title in 2001.

Croatia Open Umag is one of the oldest and most famous Croatian ATP tournaments. Since the very beginning in 1990, the tournament has hosted numerous excellent tennis players every year. Along with great tennis matches, visitors can enjoy a diverse entertainment and gourmet program, featuring a wide variety of food and beverages, as well as, concerts and live performances, all coming together to create a unique atmosphere.

This year's 27th edition of the Croatia Open Umag, will once again position Umag as the center of one of the most important social events in Croatia, which attracts not only the athletes, but also the political, business and show business elite.
