Is Zoran Mamić About to get Fired by His Own Brother Because of Dinamo's Losing Streak?

By 31 October 2015

Dinamo's coach on shaky grounds after the third defeat in a row

After more than 50 games without a defeat, Dinamo Zagreb is going through a crisis. It all started with the defeat against Olympiakos in the Europa League, then continued against Rijeka in the national football league only to be confirmed on October 30 2015 with Split's big 1-0 vicotry. Hero of the game in Split was Petar Franjić with his goal in the 38th minte of the game.

However, unlike the games against Olympiakos and Rijeka where Dinamo played well, their game in Split showed something completely different since it seemed they were not able to put together a well organised play throughout the entire game. This new defeat complicates the situation both for Dinamo and their coach Zoran Mamić since not only are they still trailing behind their eternal rival Hajduk, but they could very well be trailing by 5 points after Sunday if Hajduk defeats Rijeka, and Split is now also breathing down their necks.  It seens Dinamo players are already in Greece and only thinking about their rematch against Olympiacos, and the national league has been pushed aside for a while.

After a series of bad results and the dream of a spring in the Europa Cup slipping away, all eyes are now on the dynamic duo Zoran and Zdravko Mamić. It remains to be seen whether the big boss Zdravko will fire his own brother and bring in another coach. As reported by Dalmatinski Portal, Zdravko had an outburst during halftime and gave the players one of his standard shouting "pep talks".

When asked to comment yesterday's match and whether he thinks he might get fired, Zoran Mamić said: "Everything is possible. This defeat is different than the ones against Rijeka and Olmpiakos. Today we just didn't play well enough. Split players showed more desire to win. Again, this is all a part of football. We are not used to being second or third in the naitonal league. I believe in my team and I am sure Dinamo will come back to its winning ways soon. There are many games to be played until the end of the championship and many points to be won, we just have to start collecting them" he concluded.
