Eduardo da Silva will not return to Dinamo Zagreb, the club that he arrived to as a 15-year-old from Brazil to begin a serious football career, reports Index.hr on 9 December, 2016.
At 34 years old, Eduardo da Silva (also known as “Dudu”) did potentially think about a return to the club to conclude his career in Zagreb, and you can read more about that here. Aside from the injuries and the beef with Zdravko Mamic (which we hear is now put behind them), Dinamo fostered da Silva into a wonderful player that scored some magnificent goals. During his Dinamo career, he played 111 matches and scored 74 goals.
Eduardo da Silva met with Tomislav Svetina and representatives of Dinamo last Friday in London. At the meeting, the representatives from Dinamo had offered da Silva a contract for one year with the option of extension for another year. As we found out, “Dudu” was able to get 750,000 euros a year, with additional bonuses for appearances, goals and titles. Unfortunately, da Silva sought a fixed million euros, without bonus, which, according to the sources, had ended negotiations.
Dinamo said they had no comment.
This winter, Dudu becomes a free agent as his contract expires with Shakhtar. While we know that Eduardo wanted to come to Dinamo and repeatedly spoke about the option (although now we know negotiations have ended...for now), he did not rule out the option of remaining in the Ukraine. This season, Eduardo scored 3 goals and had 3 assists in his 19 appearances for the Ukrainian club.
