Germany Beat Croatia In The Final Match Of The Group Stage

By 20 January 2017

It is the first loss for The Cowboys at the World Handball Championship, Germany won 28-21

Croatia lost Vs. Germany on January 20, 2017, and will travel to Montpellier to face Egypt in the eight final match of the World Handball Championship. Croatia lost today, but there is no room for remorse, as the German team is currently on a much higher level.

Croatia was not playing a great game today, but all the credit has to be given to the German defense, which was perfect today. Croatian offensive line had no answer for the strong German defensive line, and in rare cases when they would manage to get the clear shot, the man of the match, German goalkeeper Andreas Wolff was there to stop it.

Wolff finished the game with 16 saves, stopping 44% of the Croatian shots. On the other side of the court, Croatian defense was solid, but not at the same level as the German one.

Croatia lost, but the most important phase tournament starts tomorrow when the elimination stage begins. Croatia’s opponent will be Egypt on Sunday and should be considered the favorite for the win in that particular match.

Domagoj Duvnjak played today, but coach Babić took some caution, and in the second halftime used his best player only in defense, to avoid the danger of the injury renewal.

Hopefully, all the players will stay healthy for the next week and will be at their best when the tough gets going.
