By 13 March 2017

Croatian tennis player Ana Konjuh was defeated on Saturday in the 2nd round of the WTY tournament in Indian Wells by Chinese Peng Shuai with 6-4, 6-2, Donna Vekić lost to Romanian Simone Halep with 6-4, 6-1, while Marin Čilić didn’t make it past the first round of the same tournament

Konjuh, who was seeded 31st at Indian Wells, was defeated by the 49th ranked player Peng after an hour and 21 minutes of play, as Jutarnji List reported on March 12, 2017.

20-year-old Donna Vekić lost to the 4th ranked world player Halep in a match of only an hour and 11 minutes.

Marin Čilić continues to offer poor performances in 2017, this time from one of the strongest tournaments in the world, eliminated by the 136th world player, 19-year-old Taylor Fritz (4-6, 7-5, 6-4).

It should be noted Fritz received an invitation to this tournament and justified it in the first round by defeating a player 129 positions above him on the ATP ranking.

Marin won the first set with 6:4 and led 3:1 in the second, but then everything stopped for the Croat. The young American managed to get back in the match and take the second set with 7:5 and then the third with 6:4.
