Šibenik, Split, and Cedevita reached the play-off semi-finals, Cibona and Zadar play the decider tonight to join them
The Croatian Basketball League got very exciting this season, and it will reach one of its peaks on May, 4. 2017, as Cibona and Zadar play the deciding match of the quarter-final series. They are leveled at one win each, so tonight’s match in Zagreb is expected to be a nail-biter.
It was quite an unusual season of the Croatian Basketball League, as three of the richest teams participated in the regional ABA League throughout the year, and other teams exploited their fatigue and ended the regular season on the top of the table. Šibenik and Split took the top two positions, and have reached the semi-finals, as did the reigning champions Cedevita.
Šibenik beat Zagreb in two games, Cedevita swept Jolly and Split managed to beat Osijek in the tight decider last night at their home court. Split will have the home court advantage against the favorites from Zagreb, and Šibenik will face the winner of tonight’s Cibona - Zadar match.
Zadar did not manage to get a win in Zagreb for a while now, but coach Aramis Naglić hopes his players will be up the task, as does the home coach Damir Mulaomerović; “I have no doubt in my players; We will be wolves out there, (wolves being the mascot of the team) and even lions if needed. We will go to the court and give our best to reach the goal - a place in the semi-final.”
Throw-off for the match is 20.00 CET.
