Croatian tennis player Borna Ćorić is through to the 3rd round of the ATP Master Series Tournament in Madrid, defeating Frenchman Pierre-Hugues Herbert with 7-5, 6-4 in an hour and 26 minutes of play
To win against Herbert, a specialist in couples competition, Ćorić only had to make one break in each set. In the first set he took the Frenchman’s service at 5-5 by taking advantage of his first break point in the match, while previously saving the only one by his opponent at 3-4, Jutarnji List reported on May 10, 2017.
The break by Ćorić in the fifth game of the second set took two tries which he secured by coming to 15-40. The first was saved by Herbert with a good service, but on the second he carelessly attacked the net, when Ćorić made him send a volley to the net.
Ćorić entered the main tournament as the ‘lucky loser,’ after Frenchman Richard Gasquet had to cancel. He is set to play the 1st ranked world player, Brit Andy Murray.
