Water polo players of Jug Croatia Osiguranje have seized their 13th Croatian Champion title after defeating Mladost from Zagreb with 11-4 (2-1, 2-1, 2-0, 5-2) in the third games of the playoffs
Jug CO celebrated in the first game with 7-1, then 13-6 in the second, and tonight with 11-4, Jutarnji List reported on May 15, 2017.
Mladost put up a good fight only in the first 10 minutes until the 2-2 score. After that came 20 goal minutes for the Zagreb team, while Jug scored nine for a convincing 11-2. By the end of the game, the defeat was softened slightly for the final 11-4.
The hosts were led to victory by Paulo Obradović with three, Felipe Perrone and Maro Joković with two goals each, while Marko Bijač made four saves. For Mladost, the premier player was Ivan Domagoj Zović with two goals, while Frano Vićan had nine saves.
This is the eighth trophy in a row for the Dubrovnik team, 59th in total. In the last two seasons, from the end of 2015, the senior team of Jug won everything that could be won. Last season was the most successful in team history – five finals and five trophies.
Third place went to Mornar who defeated Primorje in the third decisive game with 11-10. Antonio Buha with four and Antun Goreta with three goals were the most efficient for Mornar, while from the Rijeka team, two goals each were made by Duje Peroš, Ante Vukičević and Ivan Buljubašić.
