Stipanović 5th, Jurišić 6th at Delta Lloyd Regatta

By 29 May 2017

Both sailors will compete in World Cup finals in Santander

This week the Delta Lloyd Regatta took place in the Dutch town of Medemblik. The regatta is important as points earned here count towards the world rankings and of course as an excellent test and preparation for the coming finals of the World Cup in Spanish Santander, to be sailed in the beginning of June, as Dalmacijadanas.hr reported on May 28, 2017.

Invitations have been issued for the final regatta for the 25 best in world rankings. The Laser regatta will see Tonči Stipanović and Filip Jurišić compete for Croatia.

The Delta Lloyd Regatta results saw Stipanović place 5th and Jurišić 6th with the same number of points.

“I can say I am satisfied with my sailing over the entire week. I have some regret over the regatta I was disqualified in due to a premature start, entering second in the finish. With those points I could have been on the pedestal. I managed to get the best out of this regatta and I only have a few days of rest for the finals in Spain, focusing on the conditions we will have in Santander,” said Jurišić.

“I am pleased with the regatta, I significantly improved my sailing through the field, mistakes were quite small. If it wasn’t for the premature start and disqualification I surely would have taken a medal. This is my first regatta with a carbon mast, a novelty in our class, so this was a test for the coming World Cup finals in Santander where I expect to fight for a medal,” said Stipanović.
