Croats Selected in UEFA Champions League Best

Upon completion of the final in Cardiff, UEFA has announced their ideal Champions League squad and the 10 best goals of the season.

Croatian footballers have done it again! Two Croatian representatives have been named in UEFA’s selection of the best this Champions League season.

For starters, Mario Mandžukić’s goal against Real Madrid in the final battle for the title was chosen as this season's Champions League best! It was the only goal Juventus scored in the final, which ended in a celebration by Real Madrid (4:1).

Luka Modrić, the mastermind of Real Madrid’s midfield and a member of the first team to defend the title of Champions League, also found himself in a position of praise.

Modrić has been named as one of the best midfielders in the Champions League “squad of the season,” securing a spot alongside football's greatest including Gianluigi Buffon, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Lionel Messi.

“Excellent quick tempo passing and incisive attacking play kept Madrid ticking,” UEFA said about Modrić.
