The seventh round of the Croatian First League was completed last night.
Now that three of our Croatian teams are no longer competing in Europa League, leaving just Rijeka to represent Croatia in the competition this September, almost all of our attention is back on the Croatian First League.
The seventh round of the competition began on August 26, 2017, with a match between Slaven Belupo and NK Rudeš and ended last night with matches between Hajduk and Istra, Cibalia and Osijek.
Here is our round seven recap.
Slaven Belupo v NK Rudeš (2-2)
In the first game of the seventh round of the Croatian First League, Slaven Belupo hosted NK Rudeš in Koprivnica.
Rudeš scored first in the 29th minute with a goal by Havojic, making the match 0-1 for Rudeš at halftime. Slaven Belupo’s Pejic equalized in the 50th minute for 1-1.
Rudeš’ Picak was given a red card in the 56th minute, forcing the team to play a 10-man side. Belupo took the lead four-mintues later with a goal by Ivanovski for 2-1.
Rudeš received yet another red card just seven minutes after they received their first. Antonio Christian was sent off the pitch and Rudeš would be playing with nine men.
In extra time, Rudeš was given a penalty and they equalized for 2-2. The final score ended in a draw. Rudeš has failed to win a single match this season.
Inter Zaprešić v Rijeka (1-3)
Inter hosted Rijeka on August 26, 2017, for their seventh round meeting.
Rijeka scored two goals before the half, both by Heber in the 6th and 34th minute. At halftime, the game was 0-2.
Inter’s Puljic found the back of the next in the 54th minute, making the game 1-2. This wouldn’t last for long.
Just 3 minutes later, Rijeka’s Gavranovic scored for 1-3 which would be the final score of the game.
Lokomotiva v Dinamo Zagreb (0-3)
Lokomotiva hosted Dinamo on August 27, 2017, for their seventh round meeting.
Dinamo’s Soudani scored in the 30th minute, making the game 0-1 at halftime. In the second half, Soudani scored again in the 60th and 71st minute, not only scoring a hat trick but giving Dinamo a 0-3 win.
Dinamo Zagreb is currently in first place with 19 points.
Hajduk v Istra 1961 (2-0)
Hajduk hosted Istra in Split on August 27, 2017, for the seventh round match of the Croatia First League.
Hajduk took the lead in the 6th minute of the first half with a goal by Ante Erceg. In the 31st minute, Hajduk was given a penalty which was taken by Nikola Vlašić. The game was 2-0 at the half.
With no other goals in the second half, the game remained 2-0 for Hajduk. Hajduk is in second place, just 3 points behind Dinamo.
Cibalia v Osijek (2-1)
Cibalia hosted Osijek in the seventh round meeting on August 27, 2017.
Cibalia’s Pervan first scored in the 14th minute for 1-0, but Osijek’s Perosevic was quick to equalize in the 20th minute for 1-1. The game was tied at the half.
In the 52nd minute, Cibalia’s Galic found the back of the net for 2-1, which would be the final score of the match.
Osijek is now in fourth place with 12 points. This is the first time Cibalia has beaten Osijek in four years.
