HNL Round 10 Recap: Dinamo in First, Rijeka Just Four Points Behind

Round 10 of the Croatian First League began on September 23, 2017, and came to a completion on September 25, 2017.

Here’s our round 10 recap.

Cibalia v. Inter Zaprešić (1:2)

Round 10 began with a match between Cibalia and Inter Zaprešić on Saturday, September 23, 2017, in Vinkovci.

Cibalia took the lead in the first half with a goal by Strkalj in the 21st minute, before Šarić equalized for Inter in the 45th minute just ahead of the half for 1:1.

In the second half, Cibalia was shocked after a penalty was awarded to Inter. Šarić, who was chosen to take the penalty, was first defended by the Cibalia goalkeeper Brkić. Unfortunately for Cibalia, Šarić capitalized on the keeper’s save to find the back of the net. The final score of the match was 1:2.

Cibalia is currently in 9th place with 9 points while Inter is in 7th with 11 points.

Slaven Belupo v. Rijeka (1:1)

Slaven Belupo and Rijeka met on Saturday, September 23, 2017, in Koprivnica for their tenth round meeting.

The match between the two clubs got off to a slow start, and no player on either team saw the back of the net in the first half. 

The pace changed, however, in the second half when Rijeka’s Heber was lucky in the 59th minute, bringing Rijeka in the lead for 0:1.

While everyone was certain Rijeka would maintain their lead, Slaven Belupo’s Medimorec shocked the visiting team with a goal in the 78th minute. The game ended 1:1.

Slaven Belupo is currently in fifth place with 12 points while Rijeka is currently in second place with 22 points.

Istra 1961 v. Dinamo Zagreb (0:0)

Istra and Dinamo Zagreb faced off on Sunday, September 24, 2017, in Pula.

Under unfavorable pitch conditions, Istra and Dinamo both struggled to find the back of the net in the first half for a 0:0 score. The second half fared no better, and apart from a red card given to Sigali in the 86th minute, the game ended in a scoreless draw.

Istra is currently in the last place with 6 points and Dinamo is currently in first place with 26 points.

 

Hajduk Split v. Lokomotiva Zagreb (2:2)

Hajduk and Lokomotiva met for their tenth round match on September 24, 2017, in Split.

Another tenth round match with a scoreless first half, Lokomotiva took the lead in the 66th minute with a goal by Krstanovic. Just over five minutes later, Hajduk’s newest player Almeida equalized in the 73rd minute for 1:1. 

Another goal by Almeida brought Hajduk in the lead 2:1 in the 89th minute, and in classic Hajduk fashion, Lokomotiva equalized in the 93rd minute. The game ended 2:2.

Lokomotiva is currently in sixth place with 11 points, and Hajduk is in third place with 17 points.

NK Rudeš v. Osijek (1:1)

NK Rudeš and Osijek faced off on Monday, September 25, 2017, at Kranjčevićeva.

Rudeš took the lead in the 20th minute with a goal by Budimir for 1:0. The game remained 1:0 or Rudeš at the half.

In the second half, Osijek came back to equalize in the 72nd minute with a goal by Grgić for 1:1. The game ended 1:1. 

Rudeš is currently in 9th place with 7 points while Osijek remains in 4th place with 17 points.
