The Croatian First League has made it to lucky number 11. This round, which saw big blowouts, red cards, and Rijeka still in the race to catch Dinamo, was played from September 29 - October 1, 2017.
Here is our recap.
Lokomotiva Zagreb v. Slaven Belupo (0:0)
The first match of round 11 was played between Lokomotiva and Slaven Belupo at Kranjčevićeva on September 29, 2017.
Although there were chances had by both teams, neither found the back of the net, leaving the game to remain scoreless at 0:0.
Lokomotiva is currently in sixth place and Slaven Belupo in fifth.
Cibalia v. Dinamo Zagreb (2:5)
The second match of the 11th round was played between Cibalia and Dinamo on September 30, 2017, in Vinkovci.
After an embarrassing draw to the worst team in the league last week, Dinamo knew they had to pick up their pace for this match. And they did.
The first half saw two goals for Dinamo by Olmo (18th) and Soudani (25th), giving the Zagreb team a comfortable lead at the half (0:2).
The second half started out strong for Cibalia, however, after Karamarko scored for 1:2 in the 47th minute.
It seemed as though Cibalia’s momentum could not be kept for long as Dinamo’s Soudani scored a penalty in the 51st minute, but shortly thereafter, Cibalia’s Karamarko came back with another goal in the 63rd for 2:3. Now things were getting interesting.
As expected, two more goals came from Dinamo’s Hodzic and Olmo in the 82nd and 88th minute and Dinamo secured an away victory. The final score was 2:5.
Dinamo is currently in first place while Cibalia is in the eighth.
Hajduk Split v. Inter Zaprešić (2:0)
Hajduk and Inter met for their 11th round match at Poljud on September 30, 2017.
After suffering a slump and struggling to get their groove back, Hajduk finally got the result they needed after securing a home victory against Inter.
An early goal by Radošević in the 9th minute gave Hajduk the lead at the half, and another by Erceg in the 59th minute helped Hajduk seal the 2:0 win.
Unfortunately, Hajduk captain Zoran Nižić was given two yellow cards, forcing him off the pitch and to miss the next game against Cibalia.
Hajduk is currently in third place and Inter is currently in seventh.
Osijek v. Istra 1961 (2:1)
Osijek and Istra met at City Garden stadium on October 1, 2017, for their 11th round meeting.
A penalty for Hajradinovic brought Osijek in the lead with 1:0 at the half before he scored another goal for Osijek at the start of the second half (49th minute) for 2:0
Unfortunately, Osijek’s goalscorer also scored an own goal for Istra in the 70th minute, forcing the game to end 2:1.
Osijek is currently in fourth place while Istra is currently in last.
NK Rudeš v. Rijeka (1:5)
Rudeš hosted Rijeka at Kranjčevićeva for the final meeting of round 11 on October 1, 2017.
An early goal in the 9th minute by Rijeka’s Mišić took them in the lead for 0:1 before Rudeš made things interesting with a goal by Budimir in the 29th minute for a draw at the half (1:1).
Unfortunately for Rudeš, this score didn’t last long, and two goals by both Gavranović and Heber secured a 1:5 Rijeka victory.
Rijeka is currently in second place and Rudeš is currently in ninth.
