This year, the second edition of the Dalmatian Ultra Trail competition will be held from October 20 - 22, 2017.
Today, trail running and trekking have become increasingly popular forms of racing, and Dalmatia has quickly become one of the most desirable destinations for the sport.
This can easily be seen by the fact that in 2010, only ten competitors took part in trekking in this region, while today, the Dalmatian Trail League brings together nearly 2,000 team members who participate in a large number of races across the country, reports Dalmacija Danas October 5, 2017.
In less than a month, over 400 competitors from more than 30 countries across all continents will trek along the tracks of Dalmatia as part of the Dalmatia Ultra Trail competition. The second edition of Dalmatia Ultra Trail will take place from October 20 - 22, 2017.
This year's races are held in 4 categories: SKY DUT - 155km, MOUNTAIN DUT - 100km, SEA DUT - 60km and RIVER DUT - 20km. While the route lengths are tedious, the organizer has fortunately presented the most beautiful locations for competitors to enjoy including Biokovo, Mosor, Kozjak, and Poljička mountains, the Omiš Dinara, and the rivers Jadro, Žrnovnica, Cetina. The most important historical and cultural monuments of the region are also included in the routes such as Salona, Klis, and Fortica.
To maintain this race, many long-forgotten and neglected paths, sometimes only known by the villages of the Dalmatian coast and the hinterland, have been cleaned and the abandoned villages of yesteryear have been cleared.

Nearly 300 volunteers will be deployed in the areas between Kaštela and Baška Voda, available for competitors at 16 stations, road crossings, and markings. The volunteers will also aid in cleaning the track, which last year saw many volunteers spend over 48 hours doing so.

The event’s central fan zone will be held in Omiš, among the trekking and trail population, with Mosor in the hills as a backdrop known as the "cradle of Croatian trekking.” While the SKY DUT route starts in Omiš, the MOUNTAIN DUT route will begin from the Klis fortress, the SEA DUT from Baška Voda, and the RIVER DUT from Dugi Rat. The finish line of all races is in Omiš.
This year, for all of our future trekkers, a new race for children aged 2-12 years has been introduced. The children's competition will take place on Sunday, October 22, 2017 - the final day of the race. The race will begin at 12:00. Prizes, as expected, will be awarded to the fastest boy and girl, and all children who participate in the racing competition will receive a diploma.
