Rizin Grand Prix: Cro Cop Celebrates in Japan with Knockout in 60 Seconds!

By 31 December 2017

Mirko 'Cro Cop' Filipović beat Tsuyoshi Kohsaka at the Saitama Super Arena with a technical knockout!

Mirko Filipović returned to the ring of victory exactly one year after winning the Rizin Grand Prix in 2016! After just 60 seconds of fighting, our Cro Cop knocked out Japan's Kohsaka, giving the Croat the longest winning streak of his career, reports Index.hr and 24Sata on December 31, 2017.

Kohsaka did not have a chance...

Cro Cop dominated from the very beginning of the fight, immediately crushing his rival on the floor which he finished with brutal blows. The referee had to stop the battle because Kohsaka was unable to defend himself in the end. The entire fight lasted just one minute.

Tsuyoshi "TK" Kohsaka is four years older than Mirko and has competed in MMA since 1995. His biggest victory was against Fedor Vladimirovich Emelianenko, known by many as one of the greatest fighters of all time.

This fight was special for Cro Cop, because with him in the corner was his 15-year-old son Ivan. He immediately ran into the embrace of Ivan and celebrated the Rizin victory with him.

“Fighting in Japan is something special to me. I’m the last of my generation, but I'm still there, I'm still fighting. Congratulations and Kohsaka, I hope he is OK, and he is not seriously hurt,” said Mirko after the victory.

The Croat announced that he was ready for the two upcoming matches he scheduled in agreement with Rizin in 2018.

"I can not do without fighting, and they pay me well," said a sincere 43-year-old Filipović ahead of the duel he finished much easier than expected.

“My last fight will definitely be on December 31, 2018. Yes, I would like to fight for another ten years, but everything comes to an end, and so on. I will surely fight again before the last fight because I have to stay in shape,” concluded Mirko.

Congrats, Mirko!
