Croatia Moves Up in Latest FIFA Ranking, Now 15th Best in World!

By 18 January 2018

Good news for the Croatia national football team as they've advanced two places in the latest FIFA Ranking announced on January 18, 2018.

The Croatian national football team has moved up to two places on the latest FIFA ranking, which was announced on Thursday. Croatia is now in 15th place with 1048 points, reports Gol.hr on January 18, 2018.

Given that in December only 22 games were played, and they were all friendly matches, it is no surprise that there are no significant changes on the latest ladder. Among the top ten national teams, no change has been recorded. Croatia, however, has jumped two places and is now above England and Mexico.

While Germany continues to dominate the nations, Brazil remains in the second place while Portugal is in third. Argentina, one of Croatia’s rivals in Group D of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, is in fourth place.

Iceland, another one of Croatia’s rivals in Group D, has moved up two places and is currently the 20th best football nation, while Nigeria, the final team in Group D, remained in 51st place, just as they did last month.

Croatia's rivals in the preparatory friendly matches against Peru and Mexico are ranked 11th and 17th in the latest ranking. Peru, who will meet Croatia on March 23rd in Miami, has kept last month's ranking, while Mexico, who Croatia will face on March 27th in Dallas, has dropped one place compared to the previous month.
