Marin Čilić defeated world number one Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open's quarter-finals!
Marin Čilić has advanced to the semi-final of the Australian Open after the number one tennis player in the world, Rafael Nadal, handed over the match to the Croat. Nadal’s submission arrived just after Čilić’s 2:0 break in a decisive set.
Nadal asked for help from his medical team in the fourth set after he felt discomfort in his right thigh. Unfortunately, the Spaniard was unable to push through the pain - and was seen shaking his head in doubt and clenching his teeth through the muscle cramp. This, however, made it even easier for Čilić to defeat the world’s best.

In the semifinals, Čilic will play against the young tennis star Kyle Edmund. The Briton scored the highest in his career after defeating the third best player in the world, Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov with 6: 4, 3: 6, 6: 3, 6: 4. Until his first quarterfinals at this Grand Slam tournament, the 23-year-old Edmund had never defeated a top 5 player before.
