Futsal Dinamo Obstructed by Zagreb City Authorities

Futsal Dinamo, club founded by Dinamo fans protesting against the way their beloved club is managed, face problems finding venue for their home games

Futsal Dinamo has had enough. On March 1, 2016, they asked for a meeting with the Zagreb Mayor, Milan Bandic, in an effort to find a solution for their problems finding a regular venue for their home games in Zagreb. Since the start of the season, the first one in 1st division for Futsal Dinamo, they played in six different halls and stadiums.

That is not their only problem, as they are forced to pay the full price for using the venues, and with all the other sport clubs in the city having a discount, they feel oppressed by sport authorities in the city. This shouldn't come as a surprise, since the Zagreb football association is controlled by Mr. Vrbanovic, one of Mamic’s closest associates, and one of the people under investigation for corruption and money laundering together with infamous Dinamo boss.

The highlight of the process happened in November 2015 when they were denied to use the Sport Hall in Zagreb, because “there were too many fans chanting and jumping, and that is endangering architectonic stability of the building”. This explanation was quite odd, as the same venue is used for rock concerts, with noise being much louder, and when Manu Chao was performing there, one can be sure no one was sitting during the concert.

In the public announcement issued yesterday, Futsal Dinamo asked the Mayor to use his power to solve this problem, as they feel like a club of Zagreb City, and they simply ask for equal treatment as other Zagreb clubs, that not being the case in the present.

Not to be unnoted, Futsal Dinamo is selling more tickets for their games than clubs like Cedevita, Cibona and PPD Zagreb, and they are in third place in the Croatian Futsal League. As Futsal Dinamo is a numerous force, Mayor Bandic has a hot potato in his hands, as it is considered he is in close relations with Dinamo officials, but he is probably not ready to lose too many votes because of this issue.
