It's Official: Croatia and Brazil to Play Friendly on Liverpool F.C. Territory!

By 16 April 2018

The Croatia national football team will play at the famous stadium of English football giant Liverpool F.C., against the five-time world champion Brazil.

The friendly match between the national teams of Croatia and Brazil is scheduled for June 3rd, 2018, at 15:00 in England (16:00 Croatia time). Over a month and a half after the friendly was first announced, the Croatian Football Federation announced today that the game will be played at the cult Anfield stadium in Liverpool. Anfield is the home of Liverpool F.C., the popular ‘Reds’, whose colors are successfully defended by Croatian player Dejan Lovren, announced HNS on April 16, 2018.

Liverpool is one of the most successful clubs in Europe and the world, and much of the history of the celebrated sport of that club is written on the pitch at Anfield. Besides, the faithful and blaring Reds' supporters enjoy a special status in the football world, especially at the beginning of each match when ‘You'll Never Walk Alone’ can be heard screaming from the stands of whichever stadium they occupy.

Croatia will play at Anfield for the first time, and there is no better rival for such a unique experience than five-time world champion Brazil.

Both national selections will use this meeting as one of the last checks ahead of the World Cup in Russia. Croatia will compete in Group D together with Nigeria, Argentina and Iceland, while Brazil will fight in Group E with Costa Rica, Switzerland and Serbia.

"Brazil is the most attractive team in the world, and it makes me proud that the Croatian Football Federation managed to achieve this spectacle in Liverpool. We are extremely excited to enjoy the atmosphere of Anfield, where the national team has not played yet. It's a cult stadium and I'm confident that our team members will enjoy this match, together with our supporters, and all the other spectators. A game of great teams like Brazil and Croatia certainly deserves to be played at this legendary stadium,” said HNS president Davor Šuker.

The Croatian Football Association will soon announce information about ticket sales, in agreement with the organizers.
