The famous American film actor, director, producer, and composer is feeling the fire of the Croatia national team.
During the World Cup thus far, football fans have paraded every day along the largest promenade of Nizhny Novgorod, known as Pokrovskaya Street (which runs in the old part of the city). Yesterday, the walkway bled red as Croatian fans flew flags, transparencies, and all of the possible props imaginable to represent their country, reports Vecernji List on July 2, 2018.
According to unofficial information from HNS, there were between five and six thousand Croatian fans from all over the world in Nizhniy Novgorod yesterday, who totally outnumbered the Danish crowd which was incomparably smaller. Interestingly, Denmark failed to experience the fanatical euphoria like, for example, Iceland during the World Cup.
Thus, in the center of Nizhny, football fans shouted “Croatia, Croatia" all day long, while the fan euphoria was spiced up by local fans, and precisely local Russians, screaming "Russia, Russia", as their team played in Moscow yesterday to advance to the quarterfinals over Spain. For the second time in just a few days, the center of Nizhny also displayed the largest Croatian flag, measuring 70x10 meters, which was brought over by fans from Crikvenica.
Before the game against Denmark, President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović even revealed that she was wearing a Croatia jersey given to her by coach Zlatko Dalić!
But perhaps the most interesting story thus far comes from an American, known as Mr. Krul, who arrived in Nizhny Novgorod with a special task. Reportedly, Mr. Krul is a friend of celebrity actor Clint Eastwood, who asked Krul to bring him home a Croatian jersey, Vecernji List reported. Will the famous Hollywood hero be so lucky?
