While we’re on the topic of celebrating Croatia’s great sports stars, we must not forget about the sporting event that really set Dalmatia on fire - Hajduk’s 100th anniversary in 2011.
As most of you in Croatia already know, only two things in Dalmatia live forever - God and football club Hajduk Split. So for the club’s 100-year celebration in 2011, there was quite the show.

It all began on February 13, 2011 - and as soon as the clock hit midnight, Hajduk's 100th birthday celebration began.
The city of Split erupted into flames as thousands of flares were launched into the sky. Hundreds of fireworks sparkled throughout the city, and everyone ran to the streets to witness perhaps the most incredible sight the region of Dalmatia has seen.
The city was decorated with Hajduk garb and fresh graffiti, and a birthday match against Slavia Prague at Poljud was yet another high of the football blowout. Though Hajduk lost 0:2, no one seemed to mind.
The spectacle even attracted the attention of international media such as Yahoo Sports, CNN, L'Equipe, and hundreds of YouTube videos from the event have thousands of views.
Absolutely unreal scenes from Dalmatia, we aren't sure this event will ever be topped.
What will happen when Hajduk wins the Croatian championship?
