No Finals For Cedevita, Aco Petrović to Be Nominated National Coach

Cedevita has lost the second semi-final game against Crvena Zvezda 65-73

It is all over for Cedevita in this year’s edition of the ABA League as they lost the second game of the semis in Zagreb on March 22, 2016. After losing the first game in Belgrade against Crvena Zvezda, they hoped for a comeback, but the guests were too good.

Cedevita was up by five points (39-34) at the end of the first half, and it seemed that they were in control of the game’s flow, but as the teams returned from the locker rooms, the fans in the sold out Dom sportova saw an entirely different story. Zvezda opened the second half with a 5-0 run, won the third quarter by 11 points (21-10) and turned the game around. In the final period, they only confirmed the advantage, despite the fact that Nemanja Gordić managed to cut their lead to only a single point (63-62) with a minute and a half left. Zvezda answered with a 10-3 run until the end and claimed a decisive triumph.

In other basketball news, Croatian Basketball Federation was searching for the new national team coach for the last few months, and it seems they found a solution in Aleksandar Petrović, the former national coach. It is to be officially confirmed today, and it remains to be seen whether he is just a temporary solution, or if he will lead the team for a longer period of time.
