Sandra Perković Nominated for Best Female Athlete in the World - Again!

By 24 October 2018

Croatia’s best female athlete has been recognized once again for her incredible achievements in discus throwing this year.

Another year, another international recognition for Sandra Perković, Croatia’s superstar discus thrower who, at the age of 28, is one of the most decorated athletes in the world, reports Index.hr on October 23, 2018.

The two-time gold medal Olympian, two-time World Champion, and five-time European Champion has already had a lot of success to celebrate in her career - and this year, it is no different.

Perković became the first athlete in history to win five consecutive gold medals at the European Championships.

After winning the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona, Spain, and becoming the European Champion for the fifth time in her career - which also made her the first athlete in history (counting both male and female) to win five consecutive gold medals at the European Championships - Sandra is one of 10 nominees for the IAAF ‘Female Athlete of the Year’ for 2018!

Perković is in the competition against nine other outstanding athletes.

The International Association of Athletics Federation will announce the winner on December 4th. Perković is up against nine outstanding athletes in the competition, including Dina Asher-Smith, Shaunae Miller-Uibo, Beatrice Chepkoech, Sifan Hassan, Caster Semenya, Catherine Ibarguen, Mariya Lasitskene, and Anita Wlodarczyk.

Mutaz Essa Barshim won this prize last year, and Perković was nominated for the same award in 2016. We hope that Sandra can win it this time around - and with your help, she can.
