Croats in NBA: Bogdanović Scores 16 Points, Zubac Praised by Lakers Coach

A look at Croatia's basketball stars in the NBA this weekend, including Bojan Bogdanović, Ivica Zubac, Dario Šarić, and Ante Žižić.

The Indiana Pacers secured another win, and this time they celebrated over the Boston Celtics 102:101. Croatian NBA star Bojan Bogdanović was excellent, scoring 16 points in the Pacers’ win with three assists, reports HRT on November 4, 2018. 

The Pacers won in the final three seconds thanks to the excellent Victor Oladipo who got a basket right before the final buzzer. Oladipo was the best in the ranks of Indiana, scoring 24 points. The best on the Celtics was Marcus Morris, who scored 23 points and Kyrie Irving who scored 18 points.

Ivica Zubac also had an excellent appearance in the LA Lakers win against the Portland Trail Blazers (114:110). Zubac was on the court for almost 20 minutes and in that time scored 9 points and achieved eight rebounds.

The great play of the Croatian center was praised by Lakers coach Luke Walton: “The boys from the bench were extraordinary. Rondo brought it, and Zubac brought us incredible things from the bench.” Teammate JaVale Lindy also had kind words for the Croat: “I’m really proud of Zu,” McGee said. “He hadn’t played in a couple games and I’ve been on him for the past two weeks, like, ‘Stay focused, stay ready.’ And he was. I’m so proud of him.”

The Philadelphia 76ers also celebrated, with a 109:99 win against the Detroit Pistons. This is the 76ers fourth win in the last five games. The best on the Sixers was Joel Embiid who scored 39 points, 32 of which were scored in the first half. Dario Šarić played for 22 minutes for Philadelphia and scored five points, was 2/6 for two-pointers, and 1/4 for three-pointers. Šarić also achieved four rebounds and two assists.

The Cleveland Cavaliers continue to lose, with the Charlotte Hornets easily defeating them on Saturday 126:94. This is the eighth defeat for Cleveland since the beginning of the season.

Jeremy Lamb scored 19 points for Charlotte, while Cleveland's best shooter was JR Smith with 14 points. Ante Žižić played four minutes and secured two points (shots in play 1/2) and two rebounds.
