Nikola Vlašić Named Best Player of CSKA Moscow for Second Consecutive Month

By 5 November 2018

Nikola Vlašić has experienced a complete revival since he came to CSKA Moscow on loan from Everton this summer. Vlašić has played 13 games, scored five goals, and secured two assists so far.

Nikola Vlašić is shining in Russia - and since he started to score, he has not stopped. It does not matter whether Nikola is playing an important game against the royal Real Madrid, or the second to last-placed Russian club Anji - he is merciless, reports Goal.hr on November 5, 2018.

Vlašić was chosen by CSKA Moscow fans with 54% of the vote

It's no surprise that CSKA Moscow fans declared Vlašić the best player in October. In a poll published on the official website of the club, Vlašić received 54% of the votes from fans, which is how he was awarded the best player of the club for the second consecutive month. Behind him was Mario Fernandes and Fyodor Chalov.

Nikola played four games for CSKA in October and scored three goals. In the Champions League, he played 90 minutes against Real Madrid and Roma, and watched the collapse of the ‘royal club’ after he scored the only goal in the 1:0 win. In the Russian Premier League, he scored against Lokomotiv, Anzij and Krasnodar. Against Anji he scored for the 2:0, and against Krasnodar in his team’s 1-2 defeat.

Since Vlašić came to CSKA Moscow on a loan from Everton this summer, he’s experienced a complete revival. He has played 13 games in all competitions, scored five goals and secured two assists. His great performances even got him the call-up to the Croatia national A-team. Many thought that Nikola had earned his chance earlier, but never pushed, and others were more deserving of his spot. Simultaneously, however, Nikola led the Croatia U21 team through the crucial qualifications for the Euro next year.

Vlašić’s time has come for the big stage as well. For more than two months, Vlašić has been the attacking force for CSKA, but now it is time for him to become an important link for Croatia and coach Zlatko Dalić. His chance awaits in the game against Spain at Maksimir on November 15, and three days later at Wembley stadium, he can show his former English teammates how foolish they were to let a player like him go.
