By 13 November 2018

The Croatian president, who was one of the biggest fans at the World Cup in Russia this summer where Croatia became finalists, presented the Croatia national team with medals for their contribution to sports and the promotion of Croatia.

The Croatia national team gathered in Zagreb on Monday ahead of their new challenges in the UEFA Nations League. Today, the team attended a formal reception with President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović in Pantovčak, reports 24 Sata on November 13, 2018.

The president, who accompanied the national team as a fan at the World Cup in Russia where they became finalists, presented the team with medals for their contribution to sports and the promotion of Croatia.

"We're all your fans, you've won hearts all over the world. Thank you for achieving this historic success, but most of all, you have returned our smiles and unity. Thank you for showing the whole world how beautiful it is to be a Croatian, as there is no better feeling than that. Thank you for playing for all Croats in Croatia and abroad. Thank you for returning the identity to Croatia and making us all proud,” said Grabar-Kitarović.

Coach Zlatko Dalić spoke on behalf of the national team.

“Thank you for coming to Russia and giving us that support. We have shown great communion, courage, and that Croatia is the most beautiful in the world for a month, and that is how it should remain. We will continue to give our best in each game and do everything we can to make all Croatians happy and proud of us. This will not be the end of the team’s obligations today because tonight is reserved for the donation dinner for the Foundation ‘Vatreno Srce’.”

On Monday evening, the Croatia national team was visited by representatives of the Croatian General Assembly at the Westin Hotel in Zagreb who congratulated them on winning the silver at the World Cup.

Croatia will play Spain in the Nations League on Thursday in Zagreb, followed by England away at Wembley on Sunday.
