Elias Kolega has had the best season of Croatian skiers.
What a season it has been for Croatian skier Elias Kolega, and the good results keep coming. On Saturday, Kolega placed 21st in the Kitzbühel slalom. Koelga was 30th after the first run, though he improved in his second run by nine places and secured 10 new slalom points, reports Gol.hr on January 26, 2019.
Thus, with 74 points, Kolega has become the most successful Croatian skier in the World Cup this season and is ranked 22nd among slalom skiers, and 62nd overall.
The other Croatian skiers in the competition, including Filip Zubčić, Istok Rodeš and Matej Vidović, ranged from 31st to 33th, and Samuel Kolega was unable to finish, leaving the remaining Croatian representatives without a second run.
Kolega ended the race with a time of 1:48.68, or 3.15 seconds more than the winner Clement Noel. In second place was Marcel Hirscher and in third Alexis Pinturault.
Marcel Hirscher, however, leads in the slalom with 576 points, which is 175 more than Noel, who broke into second place. In the overall order, the Austrian leads with 1116 points, ahead of Kristoffersen who has 671.
Sunday in Kitzbühel is scheduled for the giant slalom, which will begin at 13.30.
