Dinamo Draws Against Molde in Maksimir

By 29 July 2015

A disappointing night at Maksimir for Dinamo Zagreb.

In the third qualifying round of the Champions League, Dinamo disappointed in Maksimir and played 1-1 against Norway's Molde. Croatian champions took the lead after 18 minutes through Henriquez, but Kamara tied just two minutes later.

Zoran Mamić once again decided to play with three defenders. Dinamo played in the formation 3-5-2, but it did not work out particularly well. The game was opened with a great chance when Soudani found himself alone in front of the goal, but then he shot wide.

Then Molde took the initiative and proved that it didn't come to Zagreb just to defend its own goal. It had a few good chances, but the score remained 0-0. Then, in the 18th minute, Pivarić passed the ball to Henriquez, who headed the ball into the goal. However, just two minutes later Dinamo conceded a goal. Kamara took advantage of a good cross and scored for 1-1.

In the remaining part of the first half there weren't any major chances. Molde looked dangerous, so it was not surprising that the Maksimir audience sent the Croatian champions to the locker room with loud whistles.

Dinamo dominated in the second half, but Pivarić and Henriquez shot wide. The attacks followed one after the other, but Dinamo never managed to break through organized Norwegian defence.

All in all, it was a pale performance by Mamić's team, once again without real ideas and power, and the final score is not very encouraging. Although Dinamo still has the opportunity to advance, especially since we know that Dinamo plays well in away matches, Molde is now the favorite.

In matches against Scandinavian teams, Dinamo so far has five wins, two draws and three defeats. We can only hope that in the second leg (next Tuesday) it will improve on that record.
