Probably the biggest football match of them all was played last night in Barcelona, and two best Croatian players left their mark on the pitch.
If one loves football, Barcelona - Real Madrid match is the one not to be missed. As Real broke Barca’s winning streak, winning 2-1 on Camp Nou, we take a look at the contribution of Croatian players in the April 2, 2016, El Clasico.
Ivan Rakitić was in the first eleven for the home team, and Luka Modrić was starting for the guests while Mateo Kovačić seems to be on his way out of Madrid as he did not even travel to Barcelona for yesterday’s match. While both teams have its biggest stars in the attack, Croatian midfielders are considered to be the irreplaceable supporting players of the biggest clubs not only in Spain but in the world. .
Ivan Rakitić played a good match, assisting for Pique’s header that put Barcelona in the lead. Although it is not always easy to notice his contribution to the team, after his substitution, it was all downhill for the home team, and today Luis Enrique, coach of Barcelona, admitted that this was a game changer.
On the other side, Luka Modrić played what can be described as close to perfect game. He ended the match with 97% of accurate passes and doing all the dirty work in the defense. He was bringing balance to Real’s team, and often catching the opponents off balance, starting the plays for Real, including one for the equalizer.
This is great news for Croatian football team, just two months before the start of EURO 2016 in France, and to end this, here is the video of Luka Modrić’s plays from last night, both defensive and offence ones.
