The defending US Open champion and Croatia's highest ranked tennis player Marin Čilić won his 12th straight match in New York beating Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in 5 sets 6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 6-7 (3), 6-4.
In a very physically demanding match, which went on to 3 hours and 59 minutes, Marin almost blew a two-set lead but managed to keep his cool and cross the finish line.
After the match Marin Čilić commented that he is most proud of being mentally there " Even though I lost the third and fourth sets, I didn't back off my game plan. The atmosphere was electric and Jo me up with sme amazing shots".
Marin Čilić will face Novak Đoković for the finals and a chance to defend his US Open title.
