ZAGREB, 27 Feb 2022 - In the last 24 hours 1,028 coronavirus cases out of 4,317 tests, and 18 related deaths have been registered in Croatia, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said on Sunday.

There are 14,515 active cases, including 1,381 hospitalised COVID patients, of whom 106 are hooked to ventilators, while 9,912 persons are self-isolating.

Croatia has registered 1,054,596 coronavirus cases to date, while the death toll stands at 15,030.

To date 56.84% of the total population has been vaccinated, i.e. 67.61% of adults, of whom 65.48% are fully vaccinated.

ZAGREB, 24 Feb 2022 - Education Minister Radovan Fuchs on Thursday said that students and teachers would no longer be required to wear masks during lessons as of Monday and that restrictions related to excursions and outdoor lessons would be relaxed.

"As we announced, as of next week masks will no longer be required during classes," Minister Fuchs told reporters after the cabinet meeting, adding that the decision was coordinated with the Croatian Public Health Institute and epidemiologists.

Masks will still be required in public transport and hallways in schools.

Wearing protective masks will no longer be mandatory for teachers, many of whom are vaccinated and who are also tested for coronavirus.

This decision comes after implementing self-testing of students, the minister underscored. In the first week of self-testing, almost 2,000 asymptomatic positive cases were identified and now there is barely some twenty-odd.

Self-testing of students will continue but there won't be any self-isolation, he said.

Instructions will be published today or tomorrow, said Fuchs, adding that measures regarding excursions and outdoor lessons will be relaxed.

He added that children can continue to wear masks if their parents wish them to and also it is recommended that children with underlying conditions should continue to wear masks.

ZAGREB, 24 Feb 2022 - In the last 24 hours, 2,559 new coronavirus cases and 22 COVID-related deaths have been recorded in Croatia, the national coronavirus response team reported on Thursday.

The number of active cases currently stands at 20,578. Among them are 1,504 infected people being treated in hospitals, including 109 who are on ventilators, while 11,781 persons are self-isolating.

Since 25 February 2020, when the first case was confirmed in Croatia, 1,049,667 people have been registered as having been infected with the new SARS-CoV-2 virus, of whom 14,964 have died and 1,014,125 have recovered, including 3,405 in the last 24 hours.

A total of 4,496,130 people have been tested to date, including 7,862 in the last 24 hours.

By Wednesday, 5,189,032 COVID-19 vaccine doses had been administered, with 56.82 percent of the total population, or 67.59 percent of adults, having been vaccinated. A total of 2,305,857 people have received at least one dose and 2,227,767 of them have been fully vaccinated, which is 65.44 percent of the adult population.

ZAGREB, 23 Feb 2022 - A total of 3,774 new coronavirus cases and 37 COVID-related deaths have been recorded in Croatia in the last 24 hours, the national coronavirus response team reported on Wednesday.

The number of active cases currently stands at 21,446. Among them are 1,555 infected people being treated in hospitals, including 104 on ventilators, while 11,669 persons are self-isolating.

Since 25 February 2020, when the first case was confirmed in Croatia, 1,047,108 people have been registered as having been infected with the new SARS-CoV-2 virus. Of those infected, 14,942 have died and 1,010,720 have recovered, including 1,827 in the last 24 hours.

A total of 4,488,268 people have been tested to date, including 10,185 in the last 24 hours.

By Tuesday, 5,185,303 COVID-19 vaccine doses had been administered, with 56.81% of the total population, or 67.57% of adults, having been vaccinated. A total of 2,305,281 people have received at least one dose and 2,226,540 of them have been fully vaccinated, representing 65.41% of the adult population.

ZAGREB, 20 Feb 2022 - In the last 24 hours, there have been 2,055 new cases of those infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Croatia, and another 42 COVID patients have died, the country's COVID-19 crisis management team reported on Sunday.

Croatia currently has 24,954 active cases of the infection, and of them 1,720 are receiving hospital treatment, including 125 placed on ventilators.

Roughly 4.47 million tests for coronavirus have been conducted in the country since the outbreak of the pandemic, detecting 1,041,212 cases of the infection. So far, 1,001,443 patients have recovered, including 4,491 recoveries in the last 24 hours.

To date, 65.37% of adult Croatians have fully been vaccinated against this disease.

ZAGREB, 18 Feb 2022 - Croatia reported 5,164 new coronavirus cases on Friday, of the 9,052 tests taken in the past 24 hours, while 50 people have died as a consequence of the disease, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said. 

Currently, there are 28,982 active cases in the country, including 1,837 hospitalized patients, 128 of whom are on ventilators while 16,535 are self-isolating.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic in Croatia, a total of 1,035,632 people have become infected, of whom 14,729 have died while 991,921 have recovered. 

As of 17 February, a total of 5,174,701 doses of a vaccine have been administered and 56.77% of the total population or 67.53% of the adult population has been vaccinated. 

A total of 2,303,772 people have received at least one dose of a vaccine while 2,223,417 people have been fully vaccinated, which is 65.32% of the adult population.

ZAGREB, 17 Feb 2022 - Croatia reported 6,359 new coronavirus cases on Thursday, out of 11,152 tests, and 47 related deaths, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said.

There are 31,059 active cases, including 1,933 hospitalised patients, of whom 132 are hooked to ventilators, while 15,772 persons are self-isolating.

Croatia has registered 1,032,033 coronavirus cases and 14,679 related deaths to date. So far, 985,845 recoveries have been registered, including 5,075 in the last 24 hours.

Also, 56.76% of the total population and 67.52% of adults have been vaccinated, including 65.29% of adults who are fully vaccinated.

ZAGREB, 16 Feb 2022 - There have been 8,266 new coronavirus cases in Croatia in the last 24 hours, and 48 more COVID patients have died, bringing the COVID-related death toll to 14,632, the country's COVID crisis management team reported on Wednesday.

There are 32,170  active cases, including 1,966 hospitalised patients, 140 of whom are on ventilators, while 15,012  people are self-isolating, the national COVID-19 crisis management team said.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic, Croatia has registered 1,027,572 cases of coronavirus, while 980,770 cases of recovery have been registered, including 2,885 in the past 24 hours.

To date, a total of 4,432,211 tests have been conducted, including 13,052 in the past 24 hours.

A total of 5,166,325 doses of a vaccine have been administered and 56.74% of the total population has been vaccinated, representing 67.51% of the adult population.

A total of 2,302,752 people have been vaccinated with at least one dose while 2,221,069 are fully inoculated, or 65.26% of the adult population.

February 15, 2022 - It is reasonable to believe in a possible record summer season in 2022 due to the number of reservations. However, low vaccination rates, rising energy prices, and other factors may still interfere, warns Tomislav Fain, head of the Association of Croatian Travel Agencies.

All EU countries are still on the map of the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) in dark red, but most of them with higher vaccination rates are expected to drop more over time than expected in Croatia. Our tourism workers hope that despite low vaccination, rising energy prices and other things, all previous efforts to invest in the season will not "melt", but due to many open questions they do not dare to predict whether we'll have a good start to this season, writes Slobodna Dalmacija.

Booking is better than for 2019, but there is no guarantee that part of these reservations will not be canceled.

''From the current perspective, the view of this year's tourist season seems quite optimistic, especially when it comes to peak season, July and August. Demand is high, reservations are constantly arriving, but we must be very careful because they are all made with the possibility of cancellation and no advance payment'', says Tomislav Fain, owner of the Zadar travel agency "Terra Travel" and president of the Association of Croatian Travel Agencies.

He reminds that the situation with COVID has greatly changed the previous way of doing business and everyone must be flexible, so reservations are accepted without payment.

''We had to adapt to this pandemic. We don’t know what could happen tomorrow, whether there will be an increase in contagion and some new measures again and we had to allow people to cancel their reservations. So we still have to be careful with optimistic announcements, but I say that if everything remains as it is now, there could be a record summer season'', Fain says.

The pre-season is filling up a bit less but he emphasizes that it is a good signal that most airlines left their flights at the beginning of April, which is an indicator that their seats are filling up.

''Our guests are accustomed to having enough capacity and there will probably be a lot of "last minute" reservations'', said the president of the Association of Croatian Travel Agencies.

Vaccination is holding us back

Along with COVID, the rattling of weapons on the border between Russia and Ukraine is not in favor of more frequent trips.

''At the moment, we do not know how the situation will unfold there by the summer or how and how much it can affect the arrivals. We, like everyone else, follow what is happening there'', Fain points out.

The interest of the population in vaccination in Croatia is miserable; those who wanted to get vaccinated did so a long time ago, and in the persuasion of those who do not want to do so, the announcement of the ECDC, which will include the parameters of vaccination of the population in the map of European countries, does not help.

''In terms of vaccination, we are the worst of all countries that are our strongest tourist competition. These are "landmines" that can reduce the possibility of a record summer season because even if we do not have a lot of infected people, data on poor vaccination can significantly affect the arrival of guests. If we stay in the red because of that, we will close the door to some markets for ourselves. It is enough for Germany to mark us as undesirable, and here we are in trouble'', concluded Fain.

There are 37,089 active cases, including 2,115 hospitalised patients, of whom 158 are hooked up to ventilators, while 19,497 persons are self-isolating.
