ZAGREB, February 23, 2018 - Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said in Brussels on Thursday that decision on the procurement of combat jets would be made in the next few weeks. The process is nearing its end, we have examined all the bids that have arrived and in the next few weeks the decision will be announced, Plenković told a press conference after meeting with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.
ZAGREB, February 5, 2018 - Croatia's Defence Ministry (MORH) on Monday reported that in the matter of 4 MiG 21 fighter jets bought from Ukraine that were grounded for safety reasons, Minister Damir Krstičević, wishing in good faith to resolve the issue, has sent his Ukraine counterpart a proposal that the four jets be replaced with ones that have a state guarantee and that are in order.

ZAGREB, January 27, 2018 - Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said on Friday that the procedure for the evaluation of bids for the procurement of fighter jets for Croatia's Air Force was under way, and added that this topic was on the agenda of his talks in Davos not only with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu but also with his Greek counterpart Alexsis Tsipras as well as with Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Loefven in mid-November.
The final decision was supposed to be made by the end of last year.
Under pressure from competition from Sweden, Israel has reportedly improved its combat aircraft offer to Croatia.
The final decision will be made soon.
The primary element of the exercise was the navy.
The first aircraft should arrive in the summer of 2020.
Croatia has recently received Kiowa Warrior helicopters.
