ZAGREB, June 1, 2018 - The leader of the opposition MOST party Božo Petrov said on Friday that he was pleased that President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović had commended the party's work, and criticised the government for ignoring bills that MOST had put forward to parliament.
While the president and the prime minister argue, the masses are emigrating.
ZAGREB, May 30, 2018 - Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said on Tuesday that there would be no joint meeting of his government with President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović to discuss measures to fight negative demographic trends, which she proposed on Monday. "The president has sent a letter with her proposal but it did not contain any specific measures about which she has spoken publicly on several occasions," Plenković told reporters after attending a presentation of the campaign "Find a Job in Croatia" in downtown Zagreb.
ZAGREB, May 29, 2018 - President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović said in Rome on Tuesday that the government had undertaken only partial demographic measures and that Prime Minister Andrej Plenković hadn't yet responded to her invitation to hold a joint cabinet meeting on that issue. "I haven't received a response. We spoke generally about it and agreed that we would continue talking and I am expecting his response," the president told reporters.
ZAGREB, May 28, 2018 - President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović on Monday sent a written recommendation to Prime Minister Andrej Plenković that a special cabinet meeting be convened on the subject of demographic policy and problems of citizens with blocked bank accounts, adding that the special meeting would also focus on her proposals regarding the two issues, the Nova TV commercial television reported.
According to the US intelligence agency, Croatia is one of top seven European countries by negative migration rates.
Both the number of births and abortions have been falling for years.

ZAGREB, May 6, 2018 - Prime Minister Andrej Plenković announced on Saturday a budget review after July 1 so that the Ministry of Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy could have more money to implement population measures.
