ZAGREB, March 8, 2018 - Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy Minister Nada Murganić said on Thursday that regarding the ratification of the Istanbul convention, the government would put forward a document containing allowed reservations and special statements conveying respect for values promulgated by the Croatian Constitution.

ZAGREB, March 7, 2018 - Croatia's strongest opposition Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Wednesday called on the government to ratify the Istanbul Convention as soon as possible, recalling that the SDP had introduced it in Parliament on International Women's Day, March 8, last year.

ZAGREB, January 29, 2018 - The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has ruled that Croatia did not "violate the right to life" because it conducted an efficient investigation into the circumstances of the death of a man identified by his initials P.M. at Žegar near Obrovac, in the south of the country, in the course of Croatia's military and police operation Storm on 5 August 1995.

ZAGREB, January 18, 2018 - By August, 1,262 people claimed asylum in Croatia in 2017, including people returned to Croatia from other EU member states under EU asylum rules, only 76 asylum seekers were granted some form of protection in 2017 at the time of writing, and Croatia relocated 78 asylum seekers from Greece and Italy by late September, according to Human Rights Watch (HRW).
