New Shipyard to Open in Eastern Croatia

ZAGREB, March 3, 2018 - A group of Croatian, Dutch and Belgian investors plan to build a modern shipyard in the eastern Croatian town of Dalj where large river boats, specialised vessels and luxurious yachts will be built, and they plan to open 140 jobs in the initial phase of the project, a press conference was told in Osijek on Friday.

ZAGREB, February 19, 2018 -The shipyard on the Croatian island of Lošinj and the Norwegian company Optimarin, specialised in developing systems for environmentally friendly purification of ballast water, on Monday signed an agreement whereby the dock on Lošinj has become Optimarin's base for the part of the Adriatic region.

Uljanik Needs Hundreds of Millions to Survive

ZAGREB, February 16, 2018 - The Uljanik Group must be restructured and additional capital must be ensured for it by, among other things, choosing a new strategic partner to enter the group's ownership structure because without its restructuring, 569 million euro worth of government guarantees will have to be activated, 4,500 jobs could be lost and the shipbuilding industry in Pula and Rijeka might be lost for good, CEO Gianni Rossanda said at an extraordinary assembly of the group's shareholders on Friday.

Workers of Uljanik Shipyard to Receive Delayed Wages Today

ZAGREB, January 24, 2018 - The director of Uljanik's Business Information Systems, Hrvoje Markulinčić, said on Wednesday that in the morning the atmosphere in the dock was back to normal and workers were doing their job as usual, after on Tuesday some 200 workers, who were disgruntled by the decision of the striking committee to put the planned industrial action on hold, protested outside the shipyard's administration office in Pula.
