Entrepreneur Ivan Mrvos Presents New Generation of Include Products

December the 1st, 2020 - The ongoing coronavirus pandemic might have thrown a proverbial spanner or two in the works for many a Croatian company, with some having to shelve their plans or cancel them entirely as the economic woes as a result of the pandemic took hold, but for entrepreneur Ivan Mrvos, the owner and founder of the incredible Croatian company Include, not everything has been quite so bleak.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, Include, which is owned by Ivan Mrvos and is a leading manufacturer of smart solutions for cities, has introduced a new generation of innovative Steora smart benches, accompanied by a brand new line of Terra waste bins to mark Include's previously announced entry into the smart waste management market.

Ivan Mrvos' company's new products were presented during a special live stream event at the company's headquarters in Solin, and the executive director, Ivan Mrvos, said that the main goal of his company now was to create an advanced smart bench that can compete very well with ordinary benches which still very much take precedent.

The talented entrepreneur Ivan Mrvos also introduced the previously mentioned Terra waste bins, an innovative solution from this Croatian company which, as he explained during the live stream, can hold up to three times more waste than conventional bins can, and that smaller cities can save up to two million euros a year thanks to a compression system which has been entirely developed by his talented and forward-thinking team at Include.

As they point out from Include, all elements of these new products are the result of the company's own research and development, and the end result is, much like with each of their products so far, one of a lot of care, knowledge and time.

Q Agency Expects Continued Growth and Stronger International Positioning

December the 1st, 2020 - The Q agency, a Croatian company within the IT sector, which is otherwise a blossoming sector in Croatia which could one day provide another set of laurels to lie on instead of just tourism, and although the coronavirus pandemic reigning strong throughout the year, this company has managed to adapt well.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the end of an incredibly tumultuous 2020 is now approaching, marking the drawing to a close of a totally unpredictable and uncertain year that will remain etched in the collective memory of global history. No one could have imagined that the coronavirus pandemic would affect our lives and the economy in such a deep and devastating way, but it happened. Despite this, many companies have managed to adapt to the new circumstances, and the Croatian Q agency was among them.

''This year was marked by internal processes for us in which we successfully switched to working from home, introduced as many as fifteen new benefits for Q agency employees, and we were among the few who even managed to hire new staff, in our case as many as 55 of them. In 2020, we achieved what are so far our highest revenues (55 million kuna), 9 out of 10 of our largest clients are leaders in their industries, when it comes to 10 out of 10 of our largest clients, we work directly with their headquarters, and we're also named one of the 20 best web development companies in the whole world. Our productivity jumped by 29 percent, which we proved with the launch of Jenz, a tool that helps companies communicate internally. The list of reasons is long so that this year, no matter what, isn't going to remain a bitter memory and I feel proud to have great employees, clients and partners,'' stated Filip Ljubic of the Croatian Q agency.

''The IT industry has proven to be quite resistant to disruptions, but one shouldn't be so naive to think that with the arrival of 2021, everything will just return to how it was before. We're facing a crisis due to the reduced volume of business of various industries, the problem of having a lack of senior developers in the labour market, and there are the expected smaller budgets for software solutions. However, due to the diversified portfolio of the industries in which we operate, we're not expect inga drop in revenue here at the Q agency. On the contrary, in 2021 we're expecting further growth, new clients and projects for which we're more than ready.

We're also seeing a big boom for our startup Jenz as more and more companies are moving towards the model of working from home. The year behind us has given us an important lesson, showing us how fragile we as a society are, and that some huge, strong companies have found themselves in trouble just because they work in an industry that is more affected than ours has been,'' concluded Ljubic.

Small Koprivnica Company Excels in "Best Donor" Category

November the 29th, 2020 - Sana Delicatessen, a small Koprivnica company with what is clearly a very big heart, has been declared the best donor alongside far larger, much more well known Croatian companies.

As Poslovni Dnevnik/Marta Duic writes, Konzum plus and Dukat received the "Best donor" award, which is being awarded for the third year in a row by the Food Network and MEP Biljana Borzan. The largest donor in the category of small and medium-sized companies, the Koprivnica company Sana Delicatessen, donated food with a sales value of 43,855 kuna, which makes up 0.64 percent of the company's annual revenue. Representatives of the awarded companies were given the right to use the title "Best donor" (Croatian: Najdonator) and make use of the official logo for a period of one year.

''Behind the value of the donated food is the significant commitment and effort of our workers because the donated food was saved before its expiration date, and it isn't food donated out of excess income. In this way, we are doubly proud because we not only donated food to those who need it the most and thus showed our social sensitivity, but we also saved that food from destruction and thus took care of the environment. Concern for the well-being of people and the environment with the satisfaction of our employees are the basic goals of Sana's business, that's why we're bringing food to the market that provides a good feeling,'' said Silvija Repic, the director of this small Koprivnica company.

Although they have been present on the market for only about six years, this Koprivnica company has managed to launch more than 150 products that are sold at hundreds of outlets throughout Croatia in the retail and horeca segment.

According to Repic, the most famous product from Sana is its hummus spread, and with the addition of pumpkin seeds, they have a recognisable "domestic" taste that Croatian customers recognise instantly and enjoy. In addition, they recently presented a new avocado spread - the popular Guacamole, and in addition to being sold here on the Croatia market, those products have also found their way to neighbouring Slovenia and nearby Austria.

Croatian Company Serengeti Secures Job in Heart of Global IT Industry

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 13th of November, 2020, although the phrase "every crisis is an opportunity" sometimes sounds a bit odd when it comes to recognising the Croatian company Serengeti's Team Extension work model, the ongoing coronavirus crisis has really prompted many companies to recognise this model as an ideal business model.

In the first 10 months of this year alone, the Croatian company Serengeti, which deals with IT, successfully concluded 8 contracts with new clients, which is a step up from 2019, long before the pandemic hit. What is particularly gratifying is that Serengeti was able to sign a contract in early November 2020 with a client from California, which is the very heart of the global IT industry.

"This is a very valuable and large project that affects this industry on a global level. Given this, as expected, it's a very demanding project in the technological sense, it also means long-term cooperation. It's an e-commerce platform that deals with health services, which also includes integrated counselling of those interested in making the best choice for their healthcare. This includes the following functionalities related to B2C and back office: lead generation, connection to the contact centre, the content management of the portal, billing, as well as analytics and reporting,'' revealed Goran Kalanj, the CEO of the Croatian company Serengeti.

Although this isn't their first client from American soil, this contract is special because of the size and seriousness of the project they will be working on. Serengeti is known as an IT company that since its inception has been working on large enterprise projects and for companies that are leaders in their industries, whose products are used by millions of users around the world.

"For our model of work, this crisis has brought about one good thing, and that's that companies that were previously skeptical about remote working have now realised that this is a serious business model that has more advantages than it has disadvantages. This opened up an additional opportunity that we didn't want to miss out on,'' added Kalanj.

By the further expansion of Serengeti into the promising American market, their developers have the ability to work on global projects. The Croatian company Serengeti is otherwise continuously hiring new employees, and plans to hire new developers to work on various pieces of technology by the end of this year. This year, they launched two new development centres in Serbia and Kenya. In 2021, in addition to their offices in Zagreb, Varazdin and Bjelovar, they plan to open offices in Split and Rijeka.

The Croatian company Serengeti builds its expertise primarily in industrial production, finances, energy logistics and retail. They have helped many clients implement an agile way of working as well as advanced DevOps methodologies, automated testing, and advanced SCRUM practices. It's worth recalling that they also recently announced that they have started a collaboration with the American company Tricentis, a world leader in automated software testing, which is one in a series of very large projects.

On top of their business success, the Croatian company Serengeti is also distinguished by their enviable so-called ''work-life balance'' and nurturing the same core values; teamwork, agility, ambition and professionalism.

Additionally, work is continuing on improving the soft skills of developers to better fit into the client culture that is mapped to a particular project. Like many other companies, they have a variety of benefits, rewards and bonuses for their employees. However, the biggest reward is the customer satisfaction with their developers who regularly receive words of praise and very high ratings in periodic questionnaires as well as on external platforms like Clutch.

The Croatian IT scene has been recording significant successes lately, which is only confirmed by Serengeti, which, in addition to a significant number of new large projects, recently became a co-owner of the RedAI application, which uses artificial intelligence technology to analyse the situation on shelves in just a few seconds. Systematic business improvement at all levels and nurturing company values are what have enabled the Serengeti to grow rapidly and work with companies that are true leaders in their respective fields.

Investments and Employment - Zagreb Company Infinum to Work with Porsche

November the 12th, 2020 - The Zagreb company Infinum is set to create for no less than the automotive giant Porsche, a move which will be accompanied by the opening up of new employment opportunities and an enormous investment.

As Poslovni Dnevnik/Tanja Ivancic writes on the 11th of November, 2020, the Zagreb company Infinum has been operating within the IT sector for 15 years now, and its last venture, ie the launch of yet another new company, opened up yet more doors for them.

''My mum taught me how to drive when I was just 15. I always tell the story of how it took me several days to learn to ride a bike - on the other hand, it only took me a few minutes to learn to drive a car. I’ve always loved cars, motorcycles and actually everything on wheels. There's something beautiful in the common nature of engineering, design and passion that cars bring together in one place. And no car brand in the world does it better than Porsche, and it's the same feeling in starting a new company and doing business with our new partners Porche Digital,'' announced Tomislav Car, co-owner and CEO of the Zagreb company Infinum.

Namely, Infinum, a Zagreb company engaged in software design and development, and Porsche Digital, a subsidiary of the huge German sports car manufacturer Porsche, launched a new company back in September - Porsche Digital Croatia. It is a digital technology development centre that, as was announced, will employ 100 professionals over the next three years to work on software design and development, artificial intelligence and machine learning, developing products and services that will work to further enhance the digital ecosystem.

Mate Rimac was the glue

In the new company, partners Infinum and Porsche Digital have equal ownership shares, and according to their current business plans, as much as 10 million euros will be invested in the company and product development.

''The automotive market is progressively adapting to new technologies and business models, so those who are triggering changes today will shape the digital market in the long run,'' said Tomislav Car, CEO of the Zagreb company Infinum, explaining that he will develop products in two main directions: one part refers to digital products which will be used by buyers and potential buyers of cars, and the second part will be related to production and other internal processes.

At the same time, the already wildly successful Zagreb company will continue to develop digital products for their customers. The leaders of Porsche Digital, which has offices all over the world, were contacted by the Infinum family through no less than Mate Rimac. As Car recounted, they ''clicked'' very quickly and realised that they were thinking similarly about technology and business.

''I hope that our cooperation will bring knowledge from Germany that we may not have yet and that together we will continue to develop such an ecosystem in Croatia,'' stated Car.

It's worth noting that the talented Tomislav Car founded Infinum back during his student days, fifteen years ago. He described this Zagreb company's very early beginnings on his website back in 2012.

''Matej Spoler, my colleague and co-founder of Infinum, and I met at high school in Karlovac. We both loved creating new things, which by chance were related to technology. There was everything, from software for PC, mobile phones and the web, and even a few avant-garde projects. I remember when Matej built water cooling for his computer to optimise the computer cooling process, and I built a computer into the boot of my first car in order to always have a large collection of music with me,'' recalls Car.

40 percent growth

Since then, the Zagreb company Infinum has grown to 280 employees and associates across as many as a dozen countries. They mostly work for western markets and their clients are global companies from all over the world. Last year, at the Group level, they had a consolidated 82 million kuna in revenue, and this year they expect to have around 100 million kuna in revenue and around 300 employees. Their average annual growth over the last five years has stood at about 40 percent. Infinum's operations and all of their investments were financed exclusively from their own reinvested earnings.

The co-owners of the Infinum group, along with the two founders, are Nikola Kapraljevic and Josip Biscan, who will also make up the management team of the new company Porshe Digital Croatia. When it comes to other companies owned by Tomislav Car, there is also CircuitMess, which he started with Albert Gajsak.

Regarding the motives that drive him, Tomislav Car says that his main desire and challenge is to create something new, regardless of whether it is a product or starting a company. For now, says Car, they aren't thinking about selling Infinum even though they do have an offer.

Croatian Company Splendor Engages in Production of Protective Masks

As Vedran Marjanovic/Novac writes on the 10th of November, 2020, after attracting public attention a few months ago by announcing the production of four-layer masks with 99% antibacterial and antiviral protection, the Croatian company Splendor tekstil from Zagreb produced the first large quantities of masks for the market and contracted with Croatian wholesalers for their delivery to pharmacies.

''Distribution is just starting through wholesalers, legal entities can order these masks directly from us, and people can get them in all the best pharmacies across the country,'' says Splendor's Textile Development Manager, Suzana Percic, revealing that serial production of four-layer masks in Splendor's plants in Sesvete and Klanjec started a month ago, after their trial production back in July.

Antivirus filtering

The motives the Croatian company Splendor were guided by when they decided to start with the production of masks aren't hard to guess and concern the current struggle of humanity with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The company says that they realised that the type of protective mask used so far in the fight against the virus should be improved so that, as they point out, the manufacturer, in addition to a high degree of antibacterial filtration, provides a high degree of antiviral filtration.

''In communication with European laboratories with which we've been cooperating for years, as well as in communication with our suppliers of layered fabrics with different types of membranes, we recognised the direction of development of the mask in which we want to go. As European laboratories are only just beginning to think about antiviral filtration test methods, we did that part in America. With antibacterial filtration greater than 99 percent, our masks showed extremely high values of virus filtration, more than 99 percent,'' explained the interlocutor from Splendor Textiles.

The technology of achieving high antiviral and antibacterial protection of the Croatian company Splendor's mask is based on the raw material composition of the mask, nanofilters which, as they pointed out from Splendor, are an additional value of the mask because there is no negative impact on human health whatsoever.

There are plans to export

The retail price of Splendor's four-layer mask currently stands at a mere nine kuna, or 11.25 kuna with VAT included. The masks will be available for purchase in packs of 55 pieces. Splendor claims that they plan to export their masks to foreign markets after discovering that their monthly production capacity of masks can reach an impressive four million copies.

Zagreb Tech Company Secures 370 Million Kuna Contract

As Poslovni Dnevnik/Darko Bicak writes on the 5th of November, 2020, the Zagreb tech company Ericsson Nikola Tesla (ENT), part of the Swedish Ericsson Group, has contracted a contract worth almost HRK 370 million to introduce eHealth in Belarus, which has thus become the fourth country in which ENT is digitising healthcare.

According to the aforementioned Zagreb tech company, the job is related to the implementation of the Central Software Platform for the Centralised e-Health System of the Republic of Belarus. The estimated duration of the platform implementation project is 2.5 years, and the contract also covers a three-year warranty period. Ericsson NT explained that the contract is the result of a two-stage tender within the World Bank project P156778 "Belarus Health System Modernisation Project", which is financed by a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

The signatory of the contract is the Republic Scientific and Practical Centre for Medical Technologies, Informatisation, Administration and Health Management, which is an agency of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus. Gordana Kovacevic, President of the Management Board of ENT, pointed out that she is proud of such a significant contract concluded in the field of eHealth, which is an additional confirmation of the Zagreb tech company's significant references in this area, here in Croatia and abroad.

''The fact that the World Bank has recognised us as a quality partner shows that our focused strategy in this area and our company's long-term investment in creating a strong team of experts in the required domain of knowledge brings new success. In this project, we're going to pay special attention to risk management given its complexity and specificity of the situation,'' said Kovacevic.

The Zagreb tech company also went on to explain that this contract continues a series of successes in the field of eHealth based on the company's long-term investment in creating a quality portfolio and an excellent team of experts who possess all of the necessary knowledge in this particular area.

''Back in 2007, our first success was achieved, the integrated information system of primary healthcare in Croatia (CEZIH) was put into operation, to which the company has continuously added new functionalities over the years. At the beginning of October this year, a new three-year agreement was signed on the support, maintenance and upgrade of the programme base of the central part of the integrated Central Health Information System of Croatia. We also have references related to eHealth outside of Croatia - in the last six years, the company has implemented similar projects in Armenia and Kazakhstan,'' they stated from the company.

Last week, this Zagreb tech company announced its financial results for the first nine months of an otherwise troublesome 2020, according to which their net profit amounted to HRK 67.2 million, which is 16.8 percent less than in the same period last year. ENT's sales revenues in the first nine months of this year amounted to HRK 1.44 billion, which is 15.2 percent more than in the same period last year. In terms of total sales revenue, the share of the Croatian market stands at 46 percent, services for Ericsson stand at 44 percent and other export markets stand at ten percent. Gross profit amounts to HRK 124.5 million, which is 1.2 percent less when compared to the same period last year, and profit before tax is lower by 19.7 percent, amounting to HRK 75.1 million. The financial report states, among other things, that this Zagreb tech company company has a solid balance sheet with total assets at the end of September of HRK 1.12 billion, which is 17.7 percent higher than back at the end of 2019.

Gordana Kovacevic estimated that despite the difficult business conditions due to the ongoing situation with the coronavirus pandemic, as well as significant political instabilities in some of their export markets, more specifically the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, during the first nine months of 2020, the company achieved solid business results.

When refering to the 12.5 percent growth in sales revenue when compared to the same period last year, she stated that this is primarily the result of taking full responsibility for the delivery of services for the construction and maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure of Hrvatski Telekom/Croatian Telecom (HT/CT) and activities aimed at introducing 5G standards within that network, which were otherwise put it into trial this week.

This Zagreb tech company expects a lot from the beginning of the commercial introduction of 5G here in Croatia during the first half of 2021, after HAKOM announces the conditions and allocates the radio frequency spectrum.
