May 26, 2023 - Hajduk will meet Šibenik in the last round of SuperSport HNL on Sunday, and apart from this being the last match of the season, it carries even more significance as Hajduk goalkeeper and the 2018 World Cup silver medalist Danijel Subašić will say goodbye to his football career.
This is the second time that Subašić played for Hajduk. He first arrived on loan from Zadar in the summer of 2008, and later Hajduk bought out his contract. After that, Subašić moved to Monaco in January 2012 and won the French championship in 2017. He was also named the best goalkeeper of the French championship that same year, reports Index.hr.
He returned to Hajduk in September 2021 as a 36-year-old. In total, he made 132 appearances for the Split club. He has not played in goal this season, and it is unknown whether he will defend against Šibenik in his farewell. With the Croatia national team, he won the silver medal at the World Cup in 2018 and was one of their key players.
Hajduk invited all fans to come dressed in white to Poljud on Sunday.
"We invite all fans, members and season ticket holders, sponsors and friends of the Club and all those who have Hajduk in their hearts to fill the Poljud stands to the last seat. Let's all dress in white shirts and come see off the old season and wish the team and the Club good luck in the new one. Because Hajduk makes us happy, regardless of everything else we are doing and where we are."
To celebrate winning the SuperSport Croatian Football Cup, Hajduk is also organizing an exciting entertainment program that will start on Sunday at 10 am.
From 10 am to 4 pm, all fans can take photos with the Cup trophy, the same one that Hajduk lifted again in Rijeka against Šibenik. The trophy will be set up under the eastern stand.
A DJ will be in charge of warming up the atmosphere from noon. Prize games are also organized in the amusement park for children and mascot Rico will join the Fan Zone from 2 pm. Then, from 4:15 pm, singer Jasna Zlokić and other surprise guests will raise the atmosphere for all generations of fans at Poljud. Hajduk and Šibenik kick off at 5 pm.

September 22, 2021 - 2018 World Cup finalist and respected former Croatia national team goalkeeper Danijel Subašić returns to Hajduk, the club he first joined in 2008.
Danijel Subašić will defend Hajduk's goal again after 9 years! The experienced 36-year-old goalkeeper signed a contract with Hajduk until the summer of 2023 and arrives at Poljud as a free agent. Danijel will wear the number 1 jersey, reports the official Hajduk website.
The former Croatia national team player, who won the silver medal with Croatia at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, will return to Poljud after leaving in 2012 when he was transferred to Monaco. Subašić arrived at Hajduk from his hometown of Zadar in 2008, and in the next three and a half years, collected 126 official appearances for Hajduk while keeping his net clean in 47 games.
He was part of the Hajduk team that won the Croatian Football Cup in the 2010/2011 season, and a season later, advanced to the Europa League group stage. After that, he played for Monaco until 2020 and recorded a total of 44 appearances for the Croatia national team.
"With Danijel, we got an experienced goalkeeper, our former player, and captain, who will be a role model for our young players, but also great support for the more experienced ones. Unfortunately, Josip Posavec is injured, and we will not count on him for the next three months. We reacted immediately and brought a goalkeeper who, with his rich experience and pronounced winning mentality, will greatly impact the locker room and is a great choice for the second goalkeeper. Subašić defended his entire career at the highest football level, he is an authority, and he will have an immeasurable influence on the development of our young goalkeepers," Hajduk's sports director Mindaugas Nikoličius said after signing the contract.

June 9, 2020 - Former Croatia national team goalkeeper, World Cup finalist and Monaco member Danijel Subasic is saying goodbye to the club and city he has called home since 2012.
Gol.hr reports that Danijel Subasic is counting down his final days in Monaco, the club where he first arrived in January 2012.
Monaco announced on Monday that Danijel Subasic would leave its ranks on June 30, while his current contract is valid.
It is not yet known where the former Croatia national team player will continue his career, but it seems likely that he will not stop playing football. Subasic will celebrate his 36th birthday in October and can certainly defend at a high level for a few more years.
After Monaco's announcement, Subasic confined the news and said goodbye to his soon-to-be former club with an emotional post on Instagram.
"Thank you so much for making your dreams come true, I will always be one of you. After almost 300 games played, it's time to say goodbye and thank you for all the support of the fans and all the club employees who have been with me since day one. Time passes, love remains. Daghe Munegu (Naprijed Monaco nap.a.). Hvalaaaa," wrote the legendary Suba.
Subasic spent eight and a half years of his career in Monaco, five in his hometown of Zadar, and three and a half with Hajduk. Subasic came to Monaco from Poljud and quickly became a legend of the club, becoming the second goalkeeper in the history of the club regarding the number of appearances.
When Subasic signed the contract, Monaco was in the second league and then began their rise to the top. It all culminated in 2017, when they won the French title ahead of the favored PSG and played in the semifinals of the Champions League, where they were barely knocked out by Juventus.
