Dinamo Zagreb will play against Benfica in the Europa League round of 16!

February 21, 2019 - The Europa League fairytale continues for Dinamo Zagreb as they move into the round of 16. 

Dinamo Zagreb and Viktoria Plzen met in the first leg of the Europa League round of 32 on Thursday night in the Czech Republic.

Uefa chose the best young footballers for the Champions League and Europa League, under the conditions that players are less than 24 years old and have not made a significant footprint in Europe until now. Two young Croatian footballers have made the list!

Dinamo played against Fenerbahce in Istanbul without goals. Before the last round of games, they have secured first place in their Europa League group. 

Dinamo Zagreb has secured the 2nd round of the UEFA Europa League for the first time in 49 years after defeating Spartak Trnava 3-1 (2-0) in Zagreb.

At the beginning of last season, the Croatian Football League led a fierce fight to be 15th place in the ranking of the best European leagues - Rijeka was in the playoffs of the Champions League, and Dinamo Zagreb, Hajduk Split, and Osijek in the playoffs of the Europa League. The start of the current European season, however, has been completely the opposite - and Croatian football has experienced a great downfall, reports Index.hr on October 27, 2018. 

Dinamo impressively topped Anderlecht in Brussels in their second game of Europa League's Group D. 

Dinamo Zagreb brilliantly opened their 2018/19 Europa League season against Fenerbahce with a blowout win.

The Europa League draw was held on Friday, which revealed who Dinamo, the only Croatian club in the competition, will play.
