January 21, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as 14 Volotea flights to Split and Dubrovnik airports will run this summer.
Spanish low-cost airline Volotea is planning 14 scheduled flights to two Croatian airports this summer, reports Croatian Aviation.
Namely, Volotea will operate 14 seasonal routes from France, Italy, and Greece to two Croatian airports - Split and Dubrovnik, in the summer flight schedule, which starts in late March.
Although the airline planned more lines to Split and Dubrovnik, the start date has been postponed from season to season due to the pandemic. The three previously announced lines will not be in operation this year either. Moreover, the airline has removed them from its list of destinations, so it is to be assumed that they will not be launched in the near future.
Nevertheless, the summer program for Croatia looks significantly better compared to 2021 operations. There are several weekly rotations on most lines, but it should be noted that the company has confirmed that reductions (or increases) in the announced schedule are still possible, and this will depend solely on the pandemic that directly affects passenger demand.
Volotea plans to travel to Dubrovnik from:
Lyon, from 16.04., 2 times a week, Tuesdays and Saturdays,
Nantes, from 09.04., 3 times a week, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays,
Bordeaux, from 16.04., 2 times a week, Wednesdays and Saturdays,
Toulouse, from 23.04., 2 times a week, Wednesdays and Saturdays,
Marseille, from 09.04., 2 times a week, Tuesdays and Saturdays,
Bari, from 06.07., once a week, Wednesday,
Athens, from 29.05., 2 times a week, Wednesdays and Sundays.
Volotea plans to travel to Split from:
Venice, from 27.05., 2 times a week, Tuesdays and Fridays,
Lyon, from 17.04., 2 times a week, Wednesdays and Sundays,
Nice, from 13.04., once a week, Wednesday,
Marseille, from 10.04., 2 times a week, Wednesdays and Sundays,
Toulouse, from 17.04., 2 times a week, Wednesdays and Sundays,
Bordeaux, from 17.04., once a week, Wednesdays,
Nantes, from 10.04., 2 times a week, Wednesdays and Sundays.
Volotea is one of the few airlines that flies from a number of French cities to Croatia during the summer season. Air France and Croatia Airlines, as well as many low-cost airlines, connect Croatian airports and several airports serving Paris, but Volotea offers the possibility of direct travel between Split and six French cities, which is certainly important in terms of tourism.
On all 14 routes to Croatia in the upcoming summer flight schedule, Volotea plans to use its A319 and A320 aircraft with a capacity of 150 and 180 seats in the passenger cabin, respectively.

January 20, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as new Ryanair Zagreb-Lviv flights have been announced from March, while Air Serbia Belgrade-Rijeka flights return from this summer!
Ryanair announced a new route from its Zagreb base, which will start operating at the end of March this year, reports Croatian Aviation.
Namely, Ryanair will connect Zagreb and Lviv from the end of March!
The line between Lviv and Zagreb will operate from the very beginning of the summer flight schedule, on March 27, and the flights have been confirmed until the end of October this year. Two flights a week have been announced, every Wednesday and Sunday.
The new Zagreb-Lviv route will run using A320 aircraft with a capacity of 180 seats, which means that Ryanair will offer 22,320 seats between the two cities this summer season.
Lviv, a city in western Ukraine with about 800,000 inhabitants, will be Ryanair's 27th destination from Zagreb Airport. This is the second regular line between Zagreb and Ukraine. Recall, Ukrainian Windrose Airlines operates on a regular route between Kyiv and Zagreb, twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays, throughout the year.
Ryanair from Lviv operates on 28 international routes to as many as 13 countries, and Zagreb and Croatia have now joined this list.
Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reports even more good news. Serbian National Airline Air Serbia will reintroduce a regular flight between Rijeka and Belgrade this summer!
Namely, Air Serbia is re-introducing its Belgrade-Rijeka flight, which was introduced in the 2019 summer flight schedule when it operated twice a week and was then planned as a year-round connection. Following the pandemic, the airline cut off traffic on this route and did not operate on it in the summer of 2020 and 2021.
However, expecting a significant recovery in demand, Air Serbia announced the reintroduction of this line from June 15 to September 17 this year.
Flights are announced twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and one-way tickets currently cost only 49 euros.
ATR72 aircraft have been announced on the line between Belgrade and Rijeka, which has a capacity of up to 70 seats in the passenger cabin. Air Serbia will offer almost 4,000 seats between the two cities this summer!

January 19, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as two Polish Lot Zadar lines will return this summer, and Brussels Airlines Split and Dubrovnik flights have been announced from April.
Polish national airline, LOT Polish Airlines, will resume traffic between Zadar and Rzeszow, the largest city in southeastern Poland, in the upcoming summer flight schedule, reports Croatian Aviation.
Namely, LOT has announced on its official website that the Zadar-Rzeszow line, a city in southeastern Poland with just under 200,000 inhabitants, will return this summer. This route was introduced by the Polish airline in the summer of 2020, and regular operations also took place in the summer flight schedule in 2021.
Flights between the two cities will run once a week, every Saturday, starting on June 18, and the Polish airline plans to use DashQ400 aircraft with a capacity of 78 seats.
In addition to the regular route from Rzeszow, LOT Polish Airlines will operate to Zadar Airport on a regular route from its main hub - Warsaw.
Flights between Warsaw and Zadar should start on Saturday, April 30. Larger capacity aircraft, such as the Embraer E195, which has a total of 112 seats will operate on this route.
Like other airlines, LOT Polish Airlines is currently working on finalizing the summer flight schedule, so in the coming weeks, we will know the official 2022 summer flight schedule.
Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reports that Brussels Airlines has announced its 2022 summer flight schedule, which includes two Croatian airports - Split and Dubrovnik.
Although the airline was expected to increase the number of weekly rotations to Croatia, judging by the published schedule for the summer season, this will not happen.
Namely, the Brussels - Split - Brussels line has been announced from Saturday, April 23 to the very end of the summer flight schedule, Saturday, October 29. Two flights a week are currently announced on Saturdays, both on Saturdays, offering 642 seats on its A319 and A320 aircraft on a weekly basis between the two cities.
The Brussels - Dubrovnik - Brussels line is on sale from April 2, and flights are announced once a week, also on Saturdays. Unlike flights to Split, the route to Dubrovnik should run until October 1. Airbus A319 aircraft with a capacity of 141 seats in the passenger cabin has been announced between Brussels and Dubrovnik.
Brussels Airlines has previously confirmed that it will not return to Zagreb International Airport, which was expected given that Ryanair has introduced a regular route between Brussels Charleroi Airport and Zagreb, and Croatia Airlines operates from the main Belgian airport from Zagreb. This year, Brussels does not plan to operate to Zadar Airport, but only to keep seasonal operations to Split and Dubrovnik.

January 17, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as there are currently no international winter flights to Dubrovnik Airport
Dubrovnik Airport ended 2021 as the third busiest Croatian airport after Split and Zagreb. As things currently stand, the beginning of 2022 did not bring new regular international routes to Dubrovnik, but the airport instead was temporarily left without its regular international Turkish Airlines and Vueling lines, reports Croatian Aviation.
According to earlier announcements and the Dubrovnik Airport winter flight schedule, Turkish Airlines and Vueling aircraft were to fly from Istanbul and Barcelona to Dubrovnik until the end of the winter flight schedule.
According to the earliest announcements, Turkish Airlines was supposed to operate up to four times a week in Dubrovnik this winter, but the flight schedule was quickly revised by the airline. The last recorded Turkish Airlines flight on a regular route to Dubrovnik was recorded on January 8.
According to the earliest announcements, Vueling was supposed to operate twice a week this winter in certain periods, i.e., on Thursdays and Sundays, but Vueling made its last recorded flight between Barcelona and Dubrovnik on January 9.
According to available information, the first available date to purchase Turkish Airlines tickets from Dubrovnik to Istanbul is Saturday, January 22. From January 22 to March 26, Turkish should continue to operate to Dubrovnik Airport twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Vueling's return to Dubrovnik is expected on March 3, when the Spanish low-cost airline should continue to fly to Dubrovnik twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays.
From January 9 to January 22, there was no international air traffic at Dubrovnik Airport, and Dubrovnik is connected to international destinations by Croatia Airlines planes, but with a transfer at Zagreb Airport.
Although 2022 may not have started with many scheduled international flights at Dubrovnik Airport, Croatian Aviation concludes that we can certainly be pleased that a significantly larger number of international flights from Dubrovnik are already announced for the summer flight schedule.

January 16, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as TUI Zadar flights are on the list of Croatian destinations this summer, while Austria Airlines will temporarily suspend Vienna-Zagreb flights from Monday.
TUI fly Belgium, a member of the well-known TUI group specializing in organized tourist trips to a number of well-known leisure destinations, including Croatia, has announced a number of destinations in the upcoming 2022 summer flight schedule.
In the past summer season, TUI Group planes flew to Pula, Dubrovnik, and Split, and this year, according to the announcements, we can expect them in Zadar as well, reports Croatian Aviation.
Just like last year, TUI has strengthened its network of destinations this year by adding four new airports to its list.
The list of airports for 2022 according to which TUI fly Belgium plans to operate along Zadar includes Havana (Cuba), Aruba (Netherlands Antilles), and Ohrid (Northern Macedonia).
According to currently available data, flights from Brussels (BRU) to Zadar have been announced from April 23 to October 1, and TUI fly Belgium aircraft on this route should operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Croatian Aviation adds that although the summer season and the whole of 2021 were very challenging for the airline industry, it seems that this airline believes that the 2022 summer season should be more successful, so in the announcement for the upcoming season, all destinations from 2021 remain on the list of destinations, including four new ones.
In 2022, TUI fly Belgium plans to offer 95 destinations and 168 routes, and flights should take place from airports such as Brussels, Ostend, Antwerp, Charleroi, Liège (Belgium), and Lille (France).
Furthermore, Ex Yu Aviation reports that Austrian Airlines will temporarily halt Vienna-Zagreb flights from Monday, for the third time in the last two years. The service should be suspended until at least February 28.
"Due to the rapidly evolving pandemic situation, during the second half of January and part of February, certain flights have been cancelled, but the majority are on sale from February onwards. Zagreb Airport is in contact with airlines across the world. However, due to the confidential nature of such contacts, we cannot share any more information at this time," Zagreb Airport said.
Croatia Airlines will continue to fly between Vienna and Zagreb with three weekly flights planned.

January 15, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Emirates Zagreb flights hope to be restored in the future.
Ex Yu Aviation reports that Emirates hopes to bring back Dubai-Zagreb flights, which have not run since the beginning of the pandemic.
“Zagreb is one amongst many cities where Emirates operations remain suspended due to ongoing travel or flight restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic. At this time, travellers in Croatia can book with our codeshare partner Flydubai to travel to Dubai and onwards on the broader Emirates network. We hope to restart our operations in Zagreb when it is commercially and operationally feasible to do so in the future, and we will make a formal announcement if there are any developments in this regard," the airline told Ex Yu Aviation.
Emirates first launched year-round operations to the Croatian capital in 2017, which ran daily that summer on Boeing 777 aircraft. The following year, the line was reduced to a seasonal route and shared with Flydubai - Emirates operated in the summer and Flydubai in the winter.
The airline last operated to Zagreb in October 2019, terminating the line a year later during the pandemic and closing its sales office in Zagreb.
Ex Yu Aviation reminds that Emirates and Flydubai recorded 130,937 passengers on the Dubai-Zagreb route before the pandemic in 2019. Behind Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, Croatia Airlines, and Turkish Airlines, Emirates was the fifth largest Zagreb Airport transfer airline. The line was primarily used by passengers from Asia and Australia and was the second busiest airline in Zagreb (behind Qatar Airways) for connecting travelers to and from Asia.
As most countries in East and Southeast Asia closed for non-essential inbound and outbound travel during the pandemic, with Australia still closed off from international arrivals, there was little chance of this line surviving.
Emirates, however, has resumed operations to over 90% of its pre-pandemic network, with more than 120 destinations worldwide.
And the other good news? Flydubai will operate daily to Zagreb this summer, which is a boost from its 4-weekly service before!

January 13, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia with more bad news for Zagreb Airport as 5 Ryanair Zagreb lines have been canceled and KLM reduces the Amsterdam-Zagreb line until the end of January.
Croatian Aviation reports that Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair canceled 12 scheduled flights from Zagreb in January this year. The number of weekly departures to 4 more international lines has been further reduced, and the airline has now made additional changes and canceled 5 more lines until the beginning of March!
Passengers were sent notices about the canceled flights last night, in which it is clearly stated that they are not entitled to compensation in accordance with EU 261 regulations. Of course, the airline offered passengers a free change of date or refund, but the bigger problem is that according to most cities where the cancellation occurred, there is no option of a direct flight with another airline from Zagreb.
Route cancellations until March:
Zagreb - Dusseldorf Weeze, from March 2,
Zagreb - Frankfurt Hahn, from March 4,
Zagreb - Naples, from March 4,
Zagreb - Oslo Torp, from March 2,
Zagreb - Sofia, from March 2.
By canceling these flights, Ryanair will have 88 fewer return flights from Zagreb Airport in February, and consequently 15,840 fewer seats.
Croatian Aviation also reports that Dutch KLM has reduced the number of weekly flights on the scheduled flight between Amsterdam and Zagreb. Until January 10 this year, KLM operated twice a day between the two mentioned cities, arriving in Zagreb in the afternoon and evening.
Due to reduced demand, KLM has canceled certain evening flights to Zagreb, which depart from Zagreb to Amsterdam at 6 am the next day.
Namely, until the end of January, KLM will operate from Amsterdam to Zagreb in the evening flight three times a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, while afternoon flights between the two cities remain in daily traffic. In total, by the end of January, the airline will have 10 weekly flights between the capitals of the Netherlands and Croatia.
According to the schedule, KLM should operate 14 times a week or twice a day between Amsterdam and Zagreb at the beginning of February, but the realization of flights will depend exclusively on passenger demand, which is still determined by the pandemic and passenger restrictions in Europe.
The Croatian national airline, Croatia Airlines, operates daily between Amsterdam and Zagreb in the morning, with aircraft from the A320 family.

January 12, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as the Lufthansa Munich-Zagreb line is delayed until the beginning of May.
Star Alliance group member Lufthansa has postponed the start of the Munich-Zagreb line until May this year, reports Croatian Aviation.
Although the flights were previously planned from the first day of the summer flight schedule (the beginning of April), Lufthansa has now extended the first flights on this route by a month to the beginning of May.
Namely, as of May 2, 2022, the Lufthansa Munich-Zagreb line, on which A319 aircraft has been announced, will depart before noon from Munich, with an early afternoon departure from Zagreb.
Croatian Aviation has learned that meetings will be held within the company in the coming days on the destination network from Munich.
As it is a feeding line, its traffic in the upcoming summer season will depend on long-haul or overseas lines from or to Munich.
If Lufthansa decides to keep most flights from its central hub, Frankfurt, flights between Munich and Zagreb will likely be canceled this summer as well.
The Croatian national airline, Croatia Airlines, also operates between Munich and Zagreb. By the end of January, as many as ten flights a week were announced on DashQ400 aircraft with a capacity of 76 seats. As Lufthansa and Croatia Airlines have signed a code-share agreement for this route, scheduled flights are available to passengers of both airlines.
Recall, Croatian Aviation reported that Lufthansa would increase the number of weekly rotations between Frankfurt and Rijeka in the upcoming summer flight schedule.
Lufthansa has operated a regular flight between Munich and Rijeka for many years. In 2021, Lufthansa also introduced a regular line between Frankfurt and Rijeka, which was also in operation every Saturday.
Instead of one weekly flight, Lufthansa will operate twice a week between Frankfurt and Rijeka this year. The line should start working on Saturday, April 9, and the second weekly flight will be introduced on Wednesday, May 25. Flights on Wednesdays will run in the evening, and on Saturdays in the morning. This will give passengers to and from Kvarner more flexibility when planning a trip, which was practically impossible with one flight a week.
A320 aircraft with a capacity of 168 seats have been announced for the summer of 2022.
German Condor will also operate between Frankfurt and Rijeka in the upcoming summer season, once a week, also on Saturdays, between May 21 and September 24. Thus, Rijeka will be connected to this famous European hub with three flights a week.
Between Munich and Rijeka, Lufthansa should operate once a week this summer, and Croatia Airlines is expected to launch three-weekly flights on this route.

January 11, 2022 - The latest flight news as 16 Norwegian flights to Croatia will run this summer to four Croatian airports.
Well-known Scandinavian low-cost airline Norwegian has announced 16 international scheduled flights from Scandinavia to four Croatian airports. This is a significant announcement, especially considering Norwegian's flight schedule to Croatia in the summer of 2021 and 2020, reports Croatian Aviation.
Namely, there are significantly more scheduled flights to Croatia than in the last two years. Before the pandemic, Norwegian had considerably more traffic to Croatian airports. Still, the flight schedule, apart from the pandemic and the sharp drop in demand, was also affected by financial problems before the coronavirus.
Norwegian 2022 Summer Flight Schedule:
Helsinki - Pula - Helsinki, once a week, Saturdays, from 04.06.,
Oslo - Pula - Oslo, twice a week, Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 04.06.,
Stockholm - Pula - Stockholm, once a week, Fridays, from 10.06.,
Bergen - Split - Bergen, three times a week, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, from 18.06.,
Copenhagen - Split - Copenhagen, twice a week, Tuesdays and Saturdays, from 03.05.,
Helsinki - Split - Helsinki, twice a week, Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 30.03.,
Oslo - Split - Oslo, once a week, Saturdays, from 16.04.,
Stavanger - Split - Stavanger, twice a week, Tuesdays and Saturdays, from 18.06.,
Stockholm - Split - Stockholm, twice a week, Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 04.05.,
Bergen - Dubrovnik - Bergen, once a week, Saturdays, from 18.06.,
Copenhagen - Dubrovnik - Copenhagen, once a week, Saturdays, from 02.04.,
Helsinki - Dubrovnik - Helsinki, twice a week, Tuesdays and Saturdays, from 03.05.,
Oslo - Dubrovnik - Oslo, twice a week, Tuesdays and Saturdays, from 04.06.,
Stavanger - Dubrovnik - Stavanger, twice a week, Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 18.06.,
Stockholm - Dubrovnik - Stockholm, once a week, Saturdays, from 07.05.,
Copenhagen - Zagreb - Copenhagen, twice a week, Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 25.06.
Norwegian remains focused on three Adriatic airports, while there are currently no announced flights to Rijeka, Zadar and Brač. In addition to Pula, Split and Dubrovnik, Norwegian plans to resume traffic on its seasonal line between Zagreb and Copenhagen, which should operate twice a week, from the end of June. Norwegian will use its B737-800 aircraft on these flights, which has a capacity of 189 seats.
In the peak summer season (July), Norwegian should have over 50 weekly flights to Croatian airports. However, the pandemic in Croatia and Scandinavian countries will undoubtedly influence the flight schedule in the coming months, especially at the beginning of the summer season.

January 9, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as Korean low-cost carrier T’way Air is putting Seoul-Zagreb flights back on the table this year, that is, once the pandemic allows it.
Ex Yu Aviation reports that Korean T’way Air Seoul-Zagreb flights are back on the table with the introduction of the low-cost airline's Airbus A330-300 wide-body aircraft in February. Flights should commence from Seoul to Zagreb once the pandemic allows it as all permits have already been obtained for four-weekly flights between the South Korean and Croatian capital. T’way is also planning flights to Singapore and Sydney this year.
Recall, Korean Air will not return to Zagreb this year due to the pandemic. The airline ran on a seasonal basis to the Croatian capital since 2018.
Ex Yu Aviation adds that Korean Air was dominant between Seoul and Zagreb when it last operated flights in 2019, with over 95% of passengers originating from South Korea.
"The only other South Korean city with notable traffic to Zagreb is its second-largest - Busan. In 2019, 4.691 passengers travelled indirectly between Busan and Zagreb on a single itinerary based on OAG data. The overwhelming majority of Korean travellers enter Croatia on a separate ticket via other European markets after spending several days in their original point of origin," reports Ex Yu Aviation.
When speaking about if T’Way would take passengers from Korean Air, Croatian Ambassador to South Korea Damir Kusen recently said:
"We believe that this will certainly be an attractive option for younger travelers to Croatia due to the significantly lower priced tickets and will stimulate a new category of passengers."
T’way will also secure another two A330s in 2022 in hopes to become South Korea’s second-largest airline.
T'way would certainly be an excellent replacement in Zagreb for Korean Air.
