There are several choices to the Adriatic coast this summer from Scotland, with easyJet leading the way with their service to Dubrovnik, which will last from late April until October.

Prices vary considerably, and we have been through the easyJet booking system to find the best deals per month for the seven months that they fly. The best we could find was £97 return all inclusive (hand luggage only) when booking with a debit card. Luggage is £34 for 20 kg if booked online.

Ryanair is not most people's favourite airline, but they are successful and they do fly to some more offbeat routes. Zadar airport is a classic example of a regional airport which has benefited greatly from the Irish low-cost carrier's routes, and it recently became the first Croatian airport to become a Ryanair base.

While there are many routes to Split, Zadar is also a popular arrival point for people coming to the Dalmatian coast, Split and the islands. There are now 16 Ryanair destinations for 2013, including Liverpool. We did battle with the Ryanair website to find the best deals currently on offer. 

The cheapest flight we found was £68.62 return including all booking charges, with hand luggage only. Luggage is an additional £30 (for 15kg) or £50 (for 20kg). The booking system takes some skill to navigate the various extra charges, but it is possible to get through with just a £1.64 credit card charge on top of the headline fares below.

Another year, another Split summer approaches, and there are plenty of flight options this year - more than ever. But where are the deals of the summer? 

So called 'budget airlines' can offer some great deals, as well as being more expensive than scheduled airlines depending on the timing. After bringing many routes to the Dalmatian airports of Split and Dubrovnik, low-cost carrier easyJet is slowly expanding in Istria. 

Not such smooth sailing for Air Serbia in Croatia.
