July 29, 2022 - The latest flight news to Croatia as KLM Croatia capacity has been boosted to Zagreb, Split, and Dubrovnik, Norwegian resumes its Zagreb route, and Trade Air pushes back operations until July 18. 

Dutch national airline KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has significantly increased its capacity to three Croatian airports in July - Zagreb, Split, and Dubrovnik, reports Croatian Aviation. 

KLM will continue to operate twice a day between Zagreb and Amsterdam in July, but there will be a significant increase in capacity. Namely, until now, E190 aircraft operated between the two cities, but now B737-700 and B737-800 aircraft will operate on two daily flights. Namely, E190 aircraft has a capacity of 100 seats, while Boeing family aircraft have 132 and 186 seats, respectively.

While the number of weekly operations between Zagreb and Amsterdam will remain the same, the number of weekly flights will increase to Dubrovnik Airport.

Namely, until now, KLM has operated on this route only on Saturdays and Sundays since the beginning of the summer flight schedule, but from the beginning of July, this line will be in daily traffic, also with B737-800 aircraft.

KLM already operates to Split on a daily basis, but on weekdays mainly with the Embraer fleet. From the beginning of July, B737-800 and B737-700 aircraft will operate between the two cities, and the number of daily flights will increase from one to two or even three daily flights.

The Dutch carrier will have six daily flights to three Croatian airports in July, offering a wide network of connections through its hub in Amsterdam.

Furthermore, Croatian Aviation reports that well-known low-cost airline Norwegian resumed traffic on the regular seasonal route between Copenhagen and Zagreb on June 25, which had been suspended since the 2019 summer flight schedule.

On this seasonal line, the only one on which Norwegian currently operates to Zagreb, two flights a week are available, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, until mid-August.

Namely, the last flight is planned for Saturday, August 13, so this airline will offer a total of 18 return flights between the two cities this summer, ie 6,048 seats in both directions on its B737-800 aircraft.

Interestingly, one A320 aircraft of the Croatian private airline, Trade Air, is currently leased for this well-known low-cost carrier, but it is based in Stockholm, so it is unlikely that it will fly to Zagreb Airport this summer under the Norwegian flight number.

On the regular route between Copenhagen and Zagreb, the Croatian national airline, Croatia Airlines, operates throughout the year, and in the summer flight schedule, Croatia also operates on the regular route between Copenhagen and Split, three times a week, every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

Although the competent Ministry announced that Croatia Airlines and Trade Air will operate on domestic PSO routes in the next four years, with operations on domestic routes at the beginning of July, this will not happen, reports Croatian Aviation. 

Trade Air announced on its official website that domestic PSO flights will not be established until July 18 this year. Namely, earlier on the carrier's website, there was information that flights are expected from this Friday, July 1, but that will not happen.

The new information states that Trade Air will re-establish PSO routes from July 18 this year, with sales open only from July 8, and that further information will be published on the official website and social networks of the airline.

As a reminder, this summer Trade Air should operate on the following routes:

Osijek - Zagreb - Osijek,

Osijek - Pula - Split - Pula - Osijek,

Osijek - Rijeka - Osijek,

Rijeka - Split - Dubrovnik - Split - Rijeka,

Osijek - Zadar - Osijek, and

Rijeka - Zadar - Rijeka.

The number of weekly frequencies remains the same as in the previous four-year period, except for the lines between Osijek and Zadar and Rijeka and Zadar, which will be in traffic once a week.

Although the number of weekly flights will remain the same, the capacity will increase significantly as the Saab340 aircraft with a capacity of 34 seats will operate on the routes instead of the Turbolet L410 (19-seat capacity).

March 14, 2022 -  The latest flight news to Croatia as KLM flights to Split and Dubrovnik resume from March 27, and two daily flights to Zagreb Airport continue. 

Dutch national airline KLM Dutch Airlines reintroduces regular seasonal lines to Split and Dubrovnik with the start of the summer flight schedule, which comes into force at the end of this month, reports Croatian Aviation.

While KLM will re-introduce regular flights from Amsterdam to Split and Dubrovnik from Sunday, March 27, the Dutch airline continues to operate twice a day to Zagreb Airport.

The first flight to Split Airport in this year's summer flight schedule has been announced for Sunday, March 27. Initially, two flights a week have been announced, every Saturday and Sunday. Before the Easter holiday, the airline is planning a number of operations, and from the end of April, KLM should operate daily between Split and Amsterdam. In the peak summer season, up to three daily flights between Amsterdam and Split of this airline are expected.

KLM will also resume traffic to Dubrovnik on the first day of the summer flight schedule, on the Amsterdam line that was reintroduced last season. Two flights a week have been announced, also on Saturdays and Sundays, and there should be an increase in weekly operations at the end of April. As was announced earlier, KLM should work up to twice a day between Dubrovnik and Amsterdam this summer.

Despite the increase in the number of operations to coastal airports last year and this year, KLM plans to continue with two daily flights to Zagreb but using mainly the Embraer fleet, which has a significantly lower capacity compared to Boeing. The Embraer and B737-700 fleets are planned on the lines to Croatia in March and April.

December 1, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as 70 KLM Split and Zagreb flights will run this December!

Dutch KLM will continue to operate daily between Amsterdam and Zagreb in December, and due to increased demand around Christmas and New Year, KLM will resume traffic between Split and Amsterdam just like last winter, reports Croatian Aviation.

KLM planes will land at Zagreb Airport every day in December. Two flights a day have been announced, with only one daily flight announced for December 26. 

The morning departure from Zagreb to Amsterdam is mainly made with an E175 aircraft with 88 seats. Around Christmas, a larger aircraft, E190, was announced. In addition, E190 aircraft with 100 seats were announced for the afternoon rotation from Zagreb to Amsterdam. From December 6 to 17, smaller E175 aircraft will also be used on this rotation. In the second half of the month, 100 seats per direction will be available again on the afternoon flight.

KLM will operate 40 return flights with E175 aircraft to Zagreb (7,040 seats) and 21 return flights with E190 aircraft (4,200 seats) in December, offering 11,240 seats.

KLM aircraft will return to Split Airport in the second half of December. Flights have been announced for Christmas and New Year. In December, 6 return flights were announced, three with B737-700 aircraft and three with B737-800 aircraft. KLM will offer 1,968 seats between Split and Amsterdam in December and additional seats available at the beginning of January next year.

After introducing the second daily flight to Zagreb, KLM is the dominant carrier, and a relatively large number of passengers choose the services of this airline to travel between the two cities and continue traveling to other destinations in Europe and the world. 

The Croatian national airline, Croatia Airlines, continues to operate daily between Amsterdam and Zagreb. Flights from Zagreb take off in the morning upon the arrival of planes from Sarajevo, Split, and Dubrovnik, so it is possible to continue the journey from these cities to the capital of the Netherlands.

According to available information, Croatia Airlines will operate most of its flights in December with A319 aircraft. A smaller DashQ400 aircraft was announced on only two dates - December 1 and December 8. In addition to KLM, Croatia Airlines will offer an additional 8,368 seats between Amsterdam and Zagreb on its flights this month.

October 10, 2021 - Offseason flights to Split Airport are running by KLM until the end of October, though the Dutch airline has also announced winter flights around the Christmas and New Year holidays. 

Dutch national airline KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will soon conclude its summer flight schedule and suspend traffic Split and Dubrovnik airports. 

Since the beginning of the summer flight schedule, KLM has operated flights between Split and Amsterdam, running up to three times a day on this route during the peak season. 

KLM also has several weekly rotations between Amsterdam and Split in October, with two flights a day still available with B737-800 and B737-700 aircraft. However, from October 30, KLM will conclude operations to Split Airport in this year's summer flight schedule and pick up again this winter.

Namely, KLM will not wait until next summer to service Split. Like last winter, the Dutch airline will briefly establish a line between Amsterdam and Split, at a time of greatest demand - around Christmas and New Year.

Eight return flights have been announced between December 23, 2021, and January 2, 2022, one flight more than last winter season. Last year, KLM operated on this line in the same period, using smaller capacity aircraft, type E190, while this winter, aircraft type B737-800 will be used.

During the Christmas and New Year holidays, KLM will offer a total of 2,880 seats between Amsterdam and Split, making it an excellent option for tourists to travel to Split during the holidays, as well as for those who want to travel from Split for holidays abroad.

Flights have been announced on December 23, 24, 26, 27, 30, and 31, and January 1 and 2.

KLM has only resumed traffic to Dubrovnik Airport this summer, so, as expected, there are no announced flights between Amsterdam and Dubrovnik in the upcoming winter flight schedule.

KLM continues to operate twice a day to Zagreb, which is the airline's only year-round route. However, after eight return flights to Split in December and January, this carrier will not return to Split until the end of April next year.

June 14, 2021 - Great news as the Dutch airline KLM increases daily flights to Croatian destinations such as Dubrovnik, Split, and Zagreb for the summer season!

The latest developments regarding flights to Croatia continue to improve this summer season, as KLM increases daily flights to Croatian destinations and offers from one to three daily flights to destinations in Croatia. KLM is ready to responsibly and safely transport its passengers to selected destinations and has provided members of its Frequent flyer program Flying Blue with a 30% lower testing price in cooperation with the LabPlus Polyclinic, reports hrturizam.hr.

From June 26, KLM will start direct traffic between Amsterdam and Dubrovnik. The first weeks will fly on Saturdays and Sundays, and from July 3, 2021, it will operate daily until the end of the summer season, August 29, 2021.

• KL 1804 will depart from Dubrovnik at 13:25 and arrive in Amsterdam at 16:05.

May 19, 2021 - The latest news for flights to Croatia as Zagreb and Split KLM flights have been boosted! 

Croatian Aviation reports that Dutch KLM currently operates twice a day between Zagreb and Amsterdam, and instead of Embraer aircraft, larger capacity aircraft operates on the route. Flights to Split have been running daily since yesterday!

Since the end of March, Dutch KLM has been gradually increasing the number of weekly flights between Zagreb and Amsterdam, adding a second daily flight on certain days of the week. The company now operates twice a day between the mentioned airports, and so far the Embraer E170 and E190 aircraft have mainly operated on this route.

The capacity of the mentioned aircraft is 76 or 100 passengers. Since the beginning of May, KLM has started using larger capacity aircraft on certain days of the week, mainly B737-700 type aircraft that can carry up to 142 passengers. Aircraft type B737-700 are announced for both daily flights to Zagreb until June 14, and again from June 21 to July 4.

From the beginning of July to the end of August, KLM plans to use B737-800 aircraft with a capacity of as many as 186 passengers on the line between Zagreb and Amsterdam. During the peak of the summer season, the -700 version was announced only on Sundays, on one daily flight.

KLM thus significantly increases the number of offered seats to and from Zagreb, counting on higher demand in the summer months. From June 1 to August 31, the Dutch airline will offer more than 56,800 seats on this route!

Increasing the number of operations towards Split

As of May 17, KLM increased the number of operations to Split Airport and now flights to and from Amsterdam are available daily.

One Croatian Aviation reader on yesterday's Amsterdam - Split flight confirmed that the B737-700 aircraft was almost full, so it is not surprising that the company decided to increase the number of operations to Split Airport earlier than in the summer season of 2019. As announced earlier, KLM will run 12 times a week between Split and Amsterdam this summer!

In addition to Split and Zagreb, this summer KLM will also run to Dubrovnik, from June 26, every day. Thus, the Dutch national airline, the oldest airline in the world, will have as many as 33 flights a week to three Croatian airports in the peak season this summer, which is a significant increase in the number of operations compared to the year before the global pandemic. Air France, also part of the same group, is present in three Croatian airports - Zagreb, Split, and Dubrovnik.

Although the E170 and E190 are very well received by passengers, the B737 has a significantly higher capacity, and the company will soon be able to use the Internet on flights within Europe (free for social networks), so this additional service will be available on flights to Split and Zagreb. Considering that good bookings are expected on the new route to Dubrovnik, there is no doubt that the company will use aircraft from the B737 family on this route as well.

Apart from those traveling between the mentioned cities, it should be noted that the share of transfer passengers on KLM lines is extremely high, and within Europe, this applies mainly to destinations such as Dublin, London, Manchester, and Oslo.

KLM has significantly increased its presence in the Croatian market in the last two years, and it is to be expected that this will continue in the future. A completely logical choice of the company would be the establishment of regular lines from Amsterdam to Pula and Zadar.

May 9, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as KLM flights to Dubrovnik return after almost 32 years!

Croatian Aviation reports that the Dutch national airline, KLM, introduces the Amsterdam - Dubrovnik Airport - Amsterdam route from June this year! The line returns after almost 32 years.

After the announcement of United, which will connect New York with Dubrovnik this summer, and Friday's announcement of Delta Air Lines, which will also operate from New York to Dubrovnik Airport, more good news arrives - KLM will introduce a regular line between Amsterdam and Dubrovnik!

KLM last operated to Dubrovnik back in 1988. After Croatia's independence, this company did not have a regular line to Dubrovnik Airport.

In February this year, the Dutch national airline expanded on the Croatian market, introduced additional flights to Zagreb, and now operates twice a day on the route from Amsterdam. There is also a line to Split, which will increase the number of weekly operations as we approach the summer season.

From the end of June, KLM will operate daily to Dubrovnik

A new destination - Dubrovnik airport, is certainly a logical choice for the company.

From June 26, KLM flights between Amsterdam and Dubrovnik will operate daily, with E190 and B737 aircraft announced.

Tickets are not currently on sale on the airline's official website, but that should change as early as Monday.

Only the British EasyJet had a regular route between Amsterdam and Dubrovnik, while Croatia Airlines last operated on this route before 2010.

Given all the airlines' announcements, it is to be expected that Dubrovnik Airport will have significantly higher traffic this year compared to last year. Three large, world-famous airlines are coming to Dubrovnik this summer, and the management of Dubrovnik Airport should certainly be congratulated on that.

March 18, 2021 - The latest flight news to Croatia as KLM flights to Split begin from Easter, and frequencies on the Amsterdam-Zagreb route have been increased! 

Croatian Aviation reports that the Dutch national airline will increase the number of weekly flights between Amsterdam and Zagreb at the beginning of April and launch its seasonal route to Split Airport.

KLM introduced its second daily flight to Zagreb in mid-February, and although the plan was to operate twice a day on this route every day of the week, this did not happen due to low demand.

The airline started with a smaller number of double rotations, but now it will still increase the number of weekly flights to Zagreb Airport. From April 5, KLM aircraft will operate on the Amsterdam - Zagreb - Amsterdam route as many as 13 times a week, and from April 12, two flights a day should be available all seven days a week.

Even better news, KLM will renew its seasonal line to Split before Easter!

The first flight has been announced for Friday, April 1. The airline will have two flights until April 10 (Monday, April 5 and Saturday, April 10), and then from April 17 to 25, it will operate twice a week, on Saturdays and Sundays.

From April 26, KLM plans daily operations to Split, but the schedule after that date should certainly be taken with caution, given that the published flight schedule will probably be reduced, of course, depending on the booking status of individual flights.

As of Tuesday, March 16, 2021, the current restrictions and rules for trips to the Netherlands have changed, as travelers now no longer need a rapid antigen test. 

Croatian Aviation reported yesterday that easyJet will introduce three routes to Split and Dubrovnik Airports in early April.

The British low-cost carrier plans to operate to two destinations in Croatia - Split and Dubrovnik.

The airline will introduce three lines from Switzerland to Split and Dubrovnik around Easter, with Split being connected to Basel and Geneva. At the same time, Dubrovnik will have a line only to Geneva.

The Basel - Split - Basel line has been announced from April 1 with two flights a week (every Thursday and Saturday). Because of the Easter holiday, it will operate on Monday, April 5 and 12. A319 aircraft have been announced on the routes.

The Geneva - Split - Geneva line has been announced from April 3, once a week, every Saturday, throughout the month of April. A319 aircraft are also expected on this route.

The Geneva - Dubrovnik - Geneva line is planned from April 10, once a week - on Saturdays.

Lufthansa will also resume traffic to Split and Dubrovnik during the holidays. 

The airline will strengthen the existing flights and renew traffic on several lines from Germany to traditional tourist destinations in Spain, Greece, Italy, and Croatia. Despite the restrictive measures in travel, Lufthansa records an increase in bookings around Easter, and consequently, there will be a resumption of traffic to the airports in Split and Dubrovnik.

The airline has already resumed traffic on the line from Frankfurt to Zagreb and canceled the line from Munich to Zagreb.

The Munich - Split - Munich line will be in operation from Saturday, March 27. Three flights a week have been announced, until April 15, every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Additionally, a flight is available on Monday, March 29.

The Frankfurt - Split - Frankfurt line will operate from Thursday, April 1. By April 18, 8 return flights have been announced. After the holidays, the line will work on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Munich - Dubrovnik - Munich line will operate from Sunday, March 28. From April 1, two flights a week are available, every Thursday and Saturday.

On the routes to Split and Dubrovnik, E190 aircraft with a capacity of 100 passengers have been announced. If necessary, the airline will react and increase the capacity following the bookings.

December 10, 2020 - The latest news for flights to Croatia as the second daily KLM flight to Zagreb offers a wide variety of connections to destinations in Europe and the United States.

As we already announced, KLM will introduce a second daily flight on the Amsterdam - Zagreb - Amsterdam route from February next year. Thus, Croatian Aviation researched the flight schedule, capacity, and connectivity options to other destinations in Europe and the world.

In mid-February, more precisely, from Monday, February 14, 2021, KLM will introduce its second daily flight between Amsterdam and Zagreb. Thus, KLM will land at Zagreb Airport twice a day from that date. The airline will have an evening departure from Amsterdam (departure at 20:55, arrival in Zagreb at 22:55). The four-member KLM crew will spend the night in Zagreb from February and perform the morning flight from Zagreb (departure at 06:30, arrival in Amsterdam at 08:40). 

The second daily flight will depart from Amsterdam at 09:40, and arrival in Zagreb is planned at 11:30. After 50 minutes in Zagreb, the plane will take off for the capital of the Netherlands, with the expected arrival in Amsterdam at 14:30.

This summer, the airline gradually increased the number of flights to Zagreb and currently operates daily, with E190 aircraft with a capacity of 100 passengers. Since September, larger aircraft of the B737-700 and B737-800 types have frequently operated on this route.

KLM will offer almost 80% more seats per day to and from Zagreb Airport

With the introduction of the second daily flight on the Amsterdam - Zagreb - Amsterdam route, smaller aircraft (E175) with a maximum capacity of 88 passengers will operate. Still, KLM will increase the number of seats to and from Zagreb from the existing 200 to 352.

The mentioned two daily flights are currently on sale until Saturday, March 27, 2021. Namely, the airline opened sales on the second daily flight only in the winter flight schedule ending on that date. Still, KLM confirmed that it plans to operate between Zagreb and Amsterdam twice a day and in the summer flight schedule next year, so it is expected that booking will be possible soon on the above flights until October.

Add to this the daily flights of Croatia Airlines, which normally operates on this route with A319 aircraft (currently due to the pandemic's impact with the smaller DashQ400), the number of seats offered since February will increase significantly compared to this year.

The second daily flight's main advantage will be the greater possibility of connections via Amsterdam to numerous destinations in Europe and the world.

Given that many Croatian citizens living and working in Ireland and the United Kingdom use the existing one-day KLM flight to Zagreb, the introduction of the second will increase the choice of connections and reduce waiting times in Amsterdam. For example, London City Airport to Zagreb with KLM via Amsterdam can be reached in just 4 hours of travel (not including check-in time at the airport). There are also excellent connections from Dublin via Amsterdam to Zagreb, twice a day.

From Zagreb via Amsterdam to Dublin in just 3 hours and 50 minutes!

The time spent waiting in Amsterdam for many destinations does not exceed two hours (often only 45 minutes), such as to and from Manchester, Dublin, Stockholm, Oslo, and many other destinations.

KLM will also offer excellent connections to the USA, primarily to New York, Atlanta, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, both on their own and on American Delta flights.

Apart from those traveling directly between Amsterdam and Zagreb, transfer passengers will have a wider choice of destinations with significantly better connections. If we add that KLM often has favorable airfares and excellent service on its flights, these flights should have no issue reaching capacity. In fact, even at this time of year and during a pandemic, KLM has a solid occupancy on the line to Zagreb.

December 5, 2020 - The latest news for flights to Croatia as KLM boosts Amsterdam-Zagreb from February 2021. 

Croatian Aviation reports that Dutch KLM, the oldest airline in the world, will introduce the second daily flight on the Amsterdam - Zagreb - Amsterdam route from February 12 next year!

Until now, KLM has operated daily to Zagreb, but from February KLM will operate on this line 14 times a week.

"However, from February next year, we are happy to be able to offer 2 daily flights to Amsterdam. All KLM staff, both on the ground and on the plane, guarantee our passengers the highest level of health and safety. We have taken several sanitary measures on the plane and at the airport, as well as adjusted our sales and refund policy to ensure smooth and safe travel. I hope that this new, additional flight between Zagreb and Amsterdam will be a sign of optimism for the future, offering the opportunity to visit the world, reunite family and friends living abroad, establish new businesses between Croatia and the Netherlands, and welcome new foreign tourists in the country," said Ildikó Kiss, sales manager for the region.

"We would like to express our satisfaction with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines' decision to introduce a second daily flight on the Amsterdam-Zagreb route from February 2021. This news is especially significant in the circumstances when we face significant consequences of the pandemic in global air traffic. KLM planes will take off from Zagreb twice a day, at 06:30 in the morning (arrival in Amsterdam at 08:30), and 12:20 (arrival in Amsterdam at 14:30). E175 aircraft have been announced for both daily flights.

The introduction of KLM's second daily flight to Amsterdam will enable an even larger number of connections from Zagreb Airport, and in addition to the Dutch company's two daily flights, Air France is expected to introduce a second daily flight to Paris in the spring of next year.
