June 2, 2022 - Dimensions Festival celebrates its 10th-anniversary edition from September 1 to 5, 2022. TCN catches up with the organizers to learn more about this year's special edition at The Garden Resort in Tisno.

After a stunning start to the new chapter at The Garden Resort of Tisno last year, the acclaimed underground Dimensions Festival brings back a tastefully curated list of headliners, back-to-back exclusives, label parties, UKG celebrations, Detroit specials, debut sets, and more to ring in the special jubilee. 

TCN caught up with the Dimensions Festival organizers to learn more about what we can expect this year. 

Dimensions celebrates 10 years this year! Congrats! How has the festival evolved, from its beginnings in Pula to today in Tisno? 

In Pula, the scale of our event meant often a lot of attention was on the big headline acts with a need to draw many thousands of people to our event from all over the world. The Garden Resort's intimate setting has given us time to refresh our approach with the line-up in a way that celebrates the exciting artists, labels, and parties in the various corners of our scene but that also plays musically into the idyllic settings including the famous Barbarellas, home to our after parties.

How do the two locations compare? What does Tisno offer that Pula couldn't? Or vice versa?

Each year in Pula we were required to bring utilities into the site; site, power, etc. The site itself was also technically challenging to produce the events at the scale we did. Tisno gives us the ability to focus on the music, the production, the sound, etc with ease. The site is one of the world's best-loved festival resorts, and it's clear to see why. Tisno town also offers a welcomed excursion for customers, artists and staff alike, making the experience feel more like a holiday than a festival at times – which is no bad thing.

Big things are in store for the 10th-anniversary edition - what can festival-goers expect this year to celebrate the big jubilee?

We have many friends joining us for our tenth year, old and new. Off the back of last year's event, there is great excitement and energy for Dimensions Festival this year and we know it is going to be another very special one! 

This year we have lots of very special stage takeovers, some unmissable after-parties at Barbarellas and 3-hour boat parties soon to be announced that will venture out on the Adriatic each day. We'll also be announcing a new stage for 2022... more details on that coming soon.

How many festival-goers are expected this year and which acts are most exciting?

We have had a great response to festival tickets so far this year and are due to expand the site slightly in line with this, with three main stages, a chill-out space, and lots of other special things in store for those that join us this summer!

To us, each act is exciting – we're very excited to welcome debut appearances from so many artists we've wanted to join for so long, as well as celebrating our 10th anniversary this summer alongside so many long-standing partners and artists who have been with us since the beginning.

The boat parties are always a hit - what do you have in store for the 10th edition?

There will be three parties a day, announced soon, with many of our partners presenting some seriously unmissable parties on the Argonaughty! Keep your eyes peeled.

10 years down, at least another 10 to go? How do you see the future of Dimensions festival in Croatia?

Our focus is very much on 2022 at the moment and on making our 10th celebration as special as it can be. Dimensions Festival feels in a really great place at the moment and we're very excited to plan for the future.

May 4, 2022 - As the much anticipated 10th-anniversary edition fast approaches, Dimensions Festival 2022 unveils the stage breakdowns for its return to The Garden Resort of Tisno this September. 

One of the stars of the festival is of course the location, a beautiful natural bay on the Dalmatian coastline. The glistening seas, sweeping beach, and pine forests make for a gorgeous background to the music which comes via an array of boat parties, baking sunshine, beachside sessions by day, and star-lit skies for open-air dancing at the cult Barbarella's Discotheque by night. All of this happens with Dimensions' famous attention to detail in terms of light, sound, and production.

On Thursday things kick off on The Beach hosted by cult underground house crew Butter Side Up and key associates including Francesco Del Garda, Laurine & Cecilio, Truly Madly, and founder Hamish next to fellow deep digger Toby, while the Olive Grove welcomes Leeds bar Outlaws Yacht Club which is famous for hosting eclectic DJs who play all manner of weird and wonderful records. Meanwhile, Cosmos sees Eris Drew & Octo Octa bring their euphoric T4T LUV NRG label and party with artists like Russell E.L. Butler & ADAB.

Friday will see The Beach hosted by Heels & Souls, one of London’s foremost not-for-profit parties, and the DJ duo of Ben Croft and Patrick Forrester. They have a live show from Japanese master Soichi Terada, and more from Tama Sumo and Jamie Tiller, while Olive Grove welcomes Kalahari Oyster Cult, an Amsterdam label known for its no-frills but highly effective sounds. They host the likes of Marie Montexier, Adam Pits, and Liquid Earth with a live show from Sansibar. Meanwhile, in the open-air Barbarellas, mobile Berlin record store, and DJ duo The Ghost host with Gene on Earth's Limousine Dream label, and Sweely and Sugar Free also line up. It's a cutting-edge electro affair at Cosmos with Helena Hauff b2b with DJ Stingray 313, and live shows from Radioactive Man and The Exaltics.

The same stage on Saturday sees fabric London's world-renowned bass night FABRICLIVE bring dBridge, Djrum, LCY and Jossy Mitsu, while Bristol's cult garage specialists and acclaimed party and label crew Dr. Banana host on The Beach with Dr Banana b2b Alec Falconer, Jeremy Sylvester, Eliza Rose and more. The Olive Grove brings underground sounds from Desyn, Joe Delon, Gwenan, Mother Earth, Rubi & Cleymoore and the influential Truants blog lines up techno from Karenn live, Batu, Mor Elian and more at Barbarellas.

Cosmos on Sunday is the place for bass and jungle from pioneers Mala, Sherelle, DJ Storm, and Dimensions Soundsystem, The Beach welcomes Marcellus Pittman, Bradley Zero, Paula Tape, Ruf Dug, Nabihah Iqbal, and more and it is a revered online platform, event series and producer crew Trommel who bring minimal sounds to the Oliver Grove with Binh, Quest, Anthea, Unai Trotti, and Junkie Inoue.

Monday is when the famously friendly and community-minded Welsh festival freerotation hosts Cosmos with DVS1, Blawan, Pariah, Move D, founders Steevio & Suzybee live and more, then critically acclaimed Dutch party starters VBX and Slapfunk combine their considerable know-how on The Beach with Raresh, Sonja Moonear, Youandewan, Huerta, Christian AB and more. Olive Grove then has Moroccan label Casa Voyager at the controls with Detroit in Effect, DMX Crew live, LSDXOXO, Freakenstein, and many more.

January 26, 2022 - Dimensions Festival 2022 headliners have been announced as the 10th anniversary of the underground music festival returns to Tisno in September! 

Dimensions marked a stunning start to the new chapter at The Garden Resort of Tisno last year, and in 2022 the acclaimed underground festival builds on that legacy with a 10th-anniversary edition from 1—5 September 2022. It goes down with a tastefully curated list of headliners, back-to-back exclusives, label parties, UKG celebrations, Detroit specials, debut sets, and much more.

Croatia’s Garden Resort is nestled in a natural paradise on the Dalmatian coastline with glistening seas, a sweeping beach, and pine forests forming the backdrop. During the festival weekend, it comes alive with an array of hugely popular boat parties, baking sunshine and beach-side sessions by day and starlit skies for open-air dancing at the cult Barbarella's Discotheque by night – a famous site with views over the bay which will host a rich array of afterparties, for which line-ups will be revealed soon and passes are already on sale.

Since 2012, Dimensions is famed for its attention to production details like light and sound, as well as its hard-earned musical heritage, seriously music-loving crowd, and diverse, community-minded spirit. All of which will return once again this summer with another musical programme that covers all shades of bass, house, techno, electro, garage, disco, and plenty in between. 

Amongst many highlights, Detroit lands in Croatia this summer with Detroit In Effect, Marcellus Pittman, and DJ Stingray 313 making appearances from the Motor City. There are plenty of exciting partnerships lined up this year with revered party crew Trommel and tasteful minimal associates such as Raresh, Sonja Moonear, Quest, Vlada, Anthea, and Unai Trottil, while ISAbella’s MARICAS party is also returning and Electronic maestros Steevio & Suzybee host a special Freerotation presentation. D. Tiffany and Roza Terenzi go head to head alongside a Planet Euphorique partnership, Dutch crew VBX join forces with Slapfunk for a special takeover, while cult crew Dr Banana is back with friends Eliza Rose, Helena Star, Jeremy Sylvester and T Dunn for a special celebration of UKG and beyond. 

Meanwhile Karenn, Sansibar, Sweely, Soichi Terada all present special live performances, Bradley Zero returns with his diverse, multi-genre sounds, and long-standing party-starters Butter Side Up are back alongside pals The Ghost, Gene On Earth, Youandewan, Huerta, Sugar Free, Truly Madly and more. Mala is back with his much loved bass-heavy selections, and after being postponed from 2021 Francesco Del Garda, LSDXOXO, Peach, Zakia, DVS1, and Malika will finally join the party. 

In terms of debuts, Eris Drew & Octa Octa present a T4T LUV NRG takeover, Jossy Mitsu, Sherelle, and LCY all play for the first time, Slow Life makes an appearance with founders Laurine and Cecilio, and on top of that Paula Tape, Adam Pitts, Azu Tiwaline, Russel E.L Butler, Club Fitness, Jamie Tiller, Jeremy Sylvester, Marie Montexier, Quest and Vlada all arrive at Dimensions for the first time.

January 26, 2022 – Following one cancelled year and a hesitant 2021, Croatian Music Festivals in 2022 look to return to normal operations. Even before the end of January 2022, two favourite events in Tisno, Dalmatia – Defected Croatia and Dekmantel Selectors – have this week sold out all tickets!

For a whole new generation of young dreamers and visitors, Croatia is on their annual wish list because of its music festivals. Set by pristine waters and beaches, in the guaranteed sunshine of a Dalmatian summer, photos of Croatia's music festivals have travelled across the world and brought international acclaim.

In 2020, all of these music festivals (except veteran domestic events at Martinska, Šibenik) were cancelled. Even in 2021, neither full confidence nor the full schedule had returned – Ultra Europe (Split) and Love International (Tisno) remained absent.

However, if early indications are anything to go by, trust in the summertime spectaculars seems to have completely returned for Croatian Music festivals in 2022. In fact, even before the end of January 2022, two favourite events in Tisno, Dalmatia – Defected Croatia and Dekmantel Selectors – have this week announced they've sold out.

News revealed exclusively to Total Croatia News informs that the rest of the summer music festivals held at The Garden Resort, Tisno are not far behind - almost all are within sight of completely selling out all tickets.

In every corner of the country, you can find Croatian Music festivals in 2022. Some of these might have traditional folk music and dance, others might offer favourite local rock and pop acts who mostly sing in Croatian.

But, for international visitors looking for Croatian Music Festivals in 2022, there are an identifiable number of festival locations and events. By and large, these are the events that young people travel to Croatia specifically to attend.

Ultra Europe in Split: 8 July 2022 – 10 July 2022

A 3-day event in Split with the world's top EDM DJs, incredible stage design and production with a definite wow factor. DJs confirmed so far include Adam Beyer, Afrojack, Alesso, Armin van Buuren, Joseph Capriati, Martin Garrix, Nina Kraviz, Oliver Heldens, Richie Hawtin, Tiësto, Timmy Trumpet and Vini Vici.

This 8th Ultra Europe in Split will - for the first time - be followed by an extension of the party on several Croatian islands. The main festival takes place at Youth Park in Split from 8 July 2022 – 10 July 2022.

On 11 July 2022, Ultra Brač will visit Brač island's 585 Club. On 12 July 2022, there will be an afternoon beach party on the Pakleni islands, near Hvar island. Later that day, a nighttime event Resistance Hvar will take place at Carpe Diem Beach Club, Hvar island.

The Resistance Closing Party Vis is the last event and will take place on 13 July at the old Fort George (Fortica) on Vis island.

Croatian Music Festivals in 2022: Defected Croatia at The Garden Resort, Tisno

With the relatively recent addition of Defected Croatia, Outlook Origins and Dimensions to the 10+ year reputation of the Garden Resort roster, this festival site can now truly claim to be the epicentre of underground electronic dance music in Croatia.

Across its summer-long run, some of the world's best underground DJs visit this place, its beach and boat parties, plus the incredible open-air Barbarellas nightclub in nearby Pirovac. Each event lasts several days and is limited to between 5000 – 7000 people.

With a renowned reputation as one of the most welcoming and easy-going of all Croatia's festivals, the adored Love International returns after two years in 2022. It has been much missed. House, disco, techno and Balearic music in the main will this year come from the likes of Ben UFO, Craig Richards, Eliza Rose, Shanti Celeste, Saoirse, Moxie, Horse Meat Disco, Antal, Hunee, Palms Trax and Midland.

Croatian Music Festivals in 2022: Suncebeat in Tisno

The longest-running festival associated with The Garden resort, Suncebeat traces its love affair with Croatia back to Petrcane, near Zadar, over 12 years ago. Actually, Suncebeat's heritage is even older – it's a spin-off event of the UK's 30+-year-old Southport Weekender. It, therefore, draws a slightly older crowd of house, disco and soul music aficionados.

The first wave of artists released for this 13th Suncebeat includes The Blessed Madonna, Kerri Chandler, Kenny Dope, Dave Lee ZR, Dam Swindle, Miguel Migs, Mark Farina, Horse Meat Disco, Natasha Diggs, Mike Dunn, John Morales, DJ Spen, DJ Spinna, Sadar Bahar, Terry Hunter, Children Of Zeus (live), Lukas Setto (Live), Djeff, Dan Shake, Ash Lauryn, Hyenah, Marina Trench, Lakuti, Elkka, Rich Medina, Boo Williams, Mafalda and CinCity.

A scaled-down version of the original Outlook, which used to take place in Pula. The event earned a reputation as being one of the most significant annual events for UK bass music and its soundsystem culture – covering music styles like reggae, dub, grime, drum n' bass, garage, dubstep, jungle, hip hop and more.

A deliberately intimate and scaled-down sister event to the mammoth underground European festival Dekmantel. With a line-up that you could well describe as the DJs' DJs of choice, this year the underground selections come from the likes of Hunee, Daniele Baldelli, Kode9, Shanti Celeste, John Talabot, FAUZIA, Eris Drew, Identified Patient, Vladimir Ivkovic & Young Marco, Carista.

Šibenik Music Festivals 2022 – Martinska, Seasplash and Project Vojarna

Martinska

Located on a perfectly secluded seaside peninsula, just outside the city of Šibenik, the Martinska venue hosts a summer-long run of intimate music festivals within fantastic natural surroundings. Events range from punk music and live concerts to more modern electronic styles. Most famous internationally is the reggae and dub event Seasplash Festival which celebrates its 20th birthday between July 14th - 17th 2022.

Project Vojarna

Just over half a decade old, Project Vojarna is a dance music event born from the collaboration of Šibenik electronic music enthusiasts. In its current standing, the main event is a 10-hour open-air rave held at a former military barracks just outside Šibenik. Each year the event grows in fame and stature. This year's event will take place on 23 July.

InMusic Festival Zagreb: 20 June 2022 – 23 June 2022

InMusic Festival, Zagreb

The largest and most prestigious event for rock music and alternative in Croatia, InMusic has certainly put the country – and Zagreb – firmly on the international rock festival map. Taking place around Zagreb's Lake Jarun, the festival site welcomes campers from all over Europe for its four-day run.

2022's incredible line-up includes The Killers, Kasabian, Deftones, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Royal Blood, White Lies, Gogol Bordello, IDLES, Amadou & Mariam, Sleaford Mods, Fontaines D.C. Hinds, The Comet Is Coming, Dry Cleaning, Tamikrest and Nick Mason.

Solardo Presents Higher Dubrovnik

After two years of unforgettable sell out shows in Dubrovnik, mighty Manchester duo Solardo aim for a hat trick in 2022. In conjunction with Pollen Presents, Solardo announce their largest festival to date from September 23-27th: The pair curate their biggest ever line up with international tastemakers, showcasing some of the world's top house and techno talent, a testament to the Manchester duo’s musical depth. BSH Island is one of the jewels in the Croatian festival crown and has been leading the way in the local scene in recent years. Its first edition in 2020 brought something new to the region, and the follow up in 2021 made a mark on the international stage and now it returns to Island of Pag for the bigger than ever third edition. This follows two much talked about festivals on Zrce Beach - BSH Island, which included a legendary party in the breathtaking 17th century Fortress overlooking the sea hosted by Amnesia Ibiza, and the epic Amnesia takeover Croatia festival. November 17, 2020 – After an absence of one season, Croatia music festivals return in 2021. Tickets for some of the biggest events are now on sale and, in today's media, it's suggested Croatia could even host 2021's Exit Festival as it is forced to move from Novi Sad, Serbia. Exit is the biggest music festival in the region.

At the Croatia music festivals site near Tisno, Murter island, 2020 was the quietest summer in almost a decade. Since 2012, the sprawling accommodation and beach complex has played host to Croatia music festivals running consecutively throughout the summer. Each attracting upwards of 5000 international visitors, summers on the beach at The Garden Tisno were one long party of dancing, drinking, partying and music. But, in 2020 everything fell silent.

As reported earlier in Total Croatia News, the festival hosts in Tisno took the opportunity to make improvements to the site in preparation for the return of events. That return is now almost certain to be 2021.

Tickets for the 2021 editions of all the major brands of international Croatia music festivals taking place in Tisno are already on sale. With the full calendar of 2020 Tisno festivals having been cancelled, many attendees have simply held onto their tickets. These tickets are now valid for 2021's rescheduled events. Dimensions, Hospitality On The Beach, Love International, Suncebeat, Outlook Origins, Defected Croatia and Dekmantel Selectors are the festivals already announced for summer 2021 in Tisno.

And far from being a modest return, could 2021 be Croatia's peak year as a host nation? In today's Jutarnji List, it is suggested that Croatia might become the new home for Exit Festival, usually held in Novi Sad, Serbia.

Provisions for workers within the events industry during the pandemic have been met differently across individual nations. In Croatia, the industry-wide crisis was highlighted earlier in 2020 by many famous event venues being lit in red. In Serbia, Exit Festival has incurred debts due to its cancellation and, according to Jutarnji List, the event is faced with losing its workforce due to a lack of financial support.

One route available to the event organisers is relocating Exit. As its organisers already hold one of the successful Croatia music festivals in Umag, Istria, Jutarnji suggests that Exit could possibly move to Croatia. Before fans of Croatia music festivals get too excited at the prospect, it should be noted that Exit also hold successful events in Montenegro, which is also a very viable alternative host site. And, it should be remembered just how much Exit Festival puts into the local economy - Jutarnji report that, since Exit started, 200 million Euros in tourism has been gained by Serbia from this one event. The article also suggests that Montenegro values Exit 2021 being able to put a potential 30 million Euros into its budget, with the attached value of Montenegro tourism promotion being over one hundred million Euros. It is difficult to imagine such a cash cow so easily being allowed to leave Serbia without financial assistance to Exit being readdressed by Serbian authorities.

A fresh sense of optimism has emerged in recent days, as news of successful COVID-19 vaccines now places the end of the pandemic within sight. However, it could be autumn or winter 2021 before enough people are successfully vaccinated for us all to relax, especially when considering mass gatherings like music festivals. But, as was proved by Croatia music festivals in Sibenik during summer 2020, a template does exist for the successful hosting of large events and music festivals, regardless of the progress of vaccination by summer 2021.

As reported in TCN at the end of this summer, the Martinska music festival site near Sibenik welcomed over 10, 000 festival-goers across their 2020 season. Adhering to the strictest epidemiological guidelines, the festival site recorded zero cases of COVID-19 from its attendees. Whether or not everyone has received a vaccination shot by next summer, and regardless of whether Exit Festival is among them, fans should confidently expect the welcome return of Croatia music festivals in 2021.

September 25, 2020 - Croatia is the 14th most searched holiday destination in the world for next year. With over 810, 000 searches on Google, the country should expect a big return of English speaking visitors to Croatia in 2021

Aside from the drop in numbers, the country's accessibility and the implementation of epidemiological guidelines, the biggest effect the Coronavirus pandemic had on Croatia's tourist season of 2020 was the change in visitor demographic. The British, Americans, Canadians and Australians largely stayed away. All that looks set to change next year as Google indicates a big return of English speaking visitors to Croatia in 2021.

Over 810, 000 searches have already been made of Croatia as a holiday destination for 2021 on Google, informing that many thousands are already researching or actively planning a trip. Croatia ranked 14th among the most searched for 2021 destinations, trailing slightly behind the likes of Italy, the Maldives, Mexico, Thailand, Spain and Greece.

The good news for the return of English speaking visitors to Croatia in 2021 was published by the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). The data has been taken from a period starting not before March 2020. This means that all searches took place in full knowledge of the ongoing Coronavirus and epidemiological situation. English speaking visitors are undeterred.

Iva Bahunek, the head of the Croatian Tourist Board in Los Angeles has not had the easiest of tasks since the pandemic began. Her appointment is a relatively recent one. Nevertheless, she has clearly done an excellent job of promoting Croatia as a destination for American tourists in 2021. She confirmed the trends are correct - that US citizens are ready for international travel again - by analysing data from the large American travel insurance company Squaremouth. 65% of all reservations for next year refer to international destinations.

Indications from the British market are the same. Total Croatia News recently published an interview with Vedran Meniga, organiser of a music festival site in Sibenik that successfully hosted over 10, 000 festival-goers in summer 2020. Sadly, they were the only ones who braved it. All of the international music festivals that usually take place on the Croatian coast cancelled their 2020 events.

But, some organisers of these festivals have been seen in Croatia over recent weeks, inspecting improvements to the famous The Garden Tisno festival site, which lies at the approach to Murter island. The festival's hugely popular beach stage has had walls removed, its space widened and now looks very well equipped to take on social distancing advice. Music festivals bring tens of thousands of people to Adriatic beaches each summer and the return of the international events will entice English speaking visitors to Croatia in 2021. September 3, 2020 - Three of Croatia's most internationally famous venues in the events industry were lit in spectacular red on Monday. Pula amphitheatre, Zagreb Arena and Fort Punta Christo were bathed in light from sunset until after dark

Three of Croatia's most internationally famous venues used by the events industry were lit in spectacular red on Monday. Pula amphitheatre, Zagreb Arena and Fort Punta Christo, also in Pula were bathed in light from sunset until after dark.

Though the change in appearance was enjoyable and visually impressive, the action was undertaken to send a strong message. It was part of a worldwide campaign to highlight the effects of Coronavirus on the events industry and those who work within it.

Some of the most famous historical buildings, concert venues and event halls in the world joined the Red Alert campaign and were similarly lit on the same night.

Large public events have been put on hold over most of the world under epidemiological guidelines. Seating arrangements in theatres, conference halls, sports and music halls are simply not compatible with social distancing regulations – many such venues could not make a profit by holding events at 50% capacity.

This has affected millions around the world who work in the events industry, from musicians and performers to technicians, bookers, agents, the media, PR representatives, venue management and general staff. Freelancers operating within the events industry are some of the hardest hit and have had all of their income sources removed completely. Many who operate in the events industry are highly trained and skilled, so diversifying into other industries can be problematic.

Pula amphitheatre (also known as Pula Arena) is a massively popular open-air venue in warmer months. It holds spectacular opera, ballet and classical music events as well as hosting a film festival. Like Zagreb Arena, it attracts some of the biggest names in pop and rock music. Fort Punta Christo has become famous all over Europe and further over the last decade, thanks to the internationally renowned Outlook and Dimensions festivals. Those events were supposed to take place in Tisno, at The Garden festival site. But, along with seven further festivals due to be held there this year, they chose to cancel in order to safeguard the health of their attendees and locals.

The Croatian events industry alone is comprised of 2000 business entities, has more than 12,000 employees, and annually generates HRK 4.5 billion. Autumn/winter 2021 is the soonest estimated point at which large scale events could return to normal. The Red Alert campaign has been undertaken to highlight the plight of the events industry as many sections within it face total collapse if deprived of work until then.

May 1, 2020 - Because of the current coronavirus pandemic, the festival season at The Garden Resort in Tisno is postponed until 2021, the organizers announced on Thursday, leaving Tisno without seven festivals at The Garden Resort this year.

HRTurizam reports that all seven events at The Garden Resort - Hospitality On The Beach, Love International, SunBeat, Outlook Origins, Defected Croatia, Dimensions and Dekmantel Selectors are delayed, with new dates already booked for next year, points out Nick Colgan, host of The Garden Resort in Tisno, and added:

"It is with very heavy hearts that we have to announce that all seven events at The Garden Resort in Tisno, are now postponed until the summer of 2021 due to the impact of the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. Hospitality On The Beach, Love International, SunceBeat, Outlook Origins, Defected Croatia, Dimensions and Dekmantel Selectors all have new dates in place for next year.

We have all been monitoring the situation closely over the last few weeks, hoping that there was a chance for life to return to normal in July. However, it has become clear that local governments and international restrictions on travel and large gatherings will continue for some months to come, leaving us with no choice but to make this very difficult and heart-breaking decision. We take the health and safety of our community, staff and guests very seriously and we will follow the public health guidelines to fight against this worldwide pandemic.

February  5, 2020 - This summer, the Dimensions Festival will be held for the first time in Dalmatia, from August 13-17, in three locations; The Garden Resort in Tisno, St. Michael’s Fortress in Šibenik, and the after-party at the cult Barbarella disco in Pirovac. 

T.portal writes that the 9th edition of the Dimensions Festival will showcase a carefully selected mix of top emerging artists and music pioneers, with a lot of attention paid to production details. The introduction to the festival will be the opening concert at St. Michael’s Fortress in the center of Sibenik, where the main guest, Floating Points, will present his latest album "Crush" in an audio-visual show, along with other classics. He will be supported by Mafalda, with his dance mix of jazz, soul and Brazilian music. Other opening artists will be announced shortly.

The final list of festival guests to perform at The Garden Resort include techno pioneers Underground Resistance, Atlanta DJ and music journalist Ash Lauryn with her timeless house, intergalactic sound machine Freakenstein, rhythm innovator Batu, legendary dub techno don Moritz von Oswald, king of minimal house Voigtmann and favorite house, soul and disco selector Red Greg. Dimensions will be hosted by Michael Upson, known for his Love Muscle events in Leeds, the cult Dutch VBX team that regularly organizes programs at the Amsterdam Dance Event, and the Stamp The Wax music magazine with its own DJ discovery trove.

The best performers of the region are inevitable as well, with resident status on Dimensions already held by Peter Dundov and Elijah Rudman, joined by Le Chocolat Noir and Zarkoff, and the latest acquisition from the region, Belgrade band Bella Technika, which will perform their long-running debut "Section" released with the cooperation of the Belgrade label Odličan Hrčak (sub-label Bravo Boys) and PDV.

All these names have been added to a great list of electronic music stars that have already been featured, like DJs Stingray, Zip, The Hacker, Tikiman & Scion, dBridge, Mafalda, Helena Hauff, Pearson Sound, Skee Mask b2b Stenny, Surgeon, Marcellus Pittman, Francesco Del Garda, Detroit in Effect, Margaret Dygas, Darwin, re: ni, Awesome Tapes from Africa and many others.

Regional visitors have the opportunity to buy a cheaper early bird regional festival ticket this year, both through the Entrio system and at Entrio outlets. In the coming months, details of the opening concert, line-up at the festival beach and party boats will be announced.

December 13, 2019 - TCN caught up with the directors of the Outlook music festival to learn more about the first release of Outlook Origins next summer. 

After a decade establishing itself as the most iconic and essential bass music event in Croatia, 2020 sees Outlook Festival open an innovative new chapter with the announcement of Outlook Origins. This all-new proposition for 2020 takes place across three special locations; The Garden Resort in Tisno for the main festival, world-famous Barbarella's for after-parties, and St Michaels Fortress for an all-new and very special opening concert.

TCN caught up with the organizers to learn more.

After a decade of Outlook Festival in Pula, you open a new chapter next summer in Tisno. What was the reasoning behind moving locations? 

Outlook has been putting on Festivals in Croatia now for twelve years. Starting our journey at The Garden (Petrcane) in 2008 and eventually arriving at the gates of Fort Punta Christo in 2010. As event organisers (and music fans), we've been fortunate to hold some incredible parties with some of the biggest names in sound system culture, and do so in one of the most unique locations for events in the world. From massive opening concerts in Pula's 2000-year-old amphitheatre to the Harbour, Moat and Ballroom, our set-up at Fort Punta Christo offered people an experience unlike any other. 

It's been an amazing experience for us in Pula and after ten years at the fort, we as organisers were keen to explore something new. Running such a massive event, welcoming thousands of music fans from across the globe takes a lot of work and a venue as unique as the Fort brings with it further challenges (safety, power, sound, production or beyond). We felt it was time to find a new challenge and explore other exciting routes to develop the festival and embrace sound system culture.

How will Outlook Origins be different compared with the previous editions of the Outlook Festival in Pula we know so well?

Outlook Origins explores a new model for us as a festival - one where we work closely with twelve of the scene's brightest names in sound system culture to curate our line-up. A festival line-up with some of our musical heroes working alongside - what could be better! 

Exploring everything from drum and bass and dub, to reggae, roots, grime, garage and beyond, our curators will ensure the true scope of 'Outlook's' sound is represented. Alongside this, the festival becomes more intimate, offering the audience an opportunity to get up-close to the music and the artists. The Garden site is a well-loved home to many festivals, with an array of great facilities, food, drink and idyllic beach in which to enjoy outside of the music. Next summer, we'll add the Outlook touch to the site, with sound (Sinai Sound System), production, knowledge and workshops and much more still to be announced!

How will the opening concert at St. Michael’s Fortress in Sibenik compare to the Pula Arena?

This year is very much about moving forward and keeping our eyes on our plans for 2020. St. Michael's fortress is a spectacular venue with eye-dropping scenes surrounding it. It brings with it an opportunity for us as programmers to review our current model and find artists that are a perfect fit for such a space! Opening our festival the last couple of years with a massive concert (and one that has been held in a 2000-year-old amphitheatre) has been a dream - we're very excited to be able to do the same again for Outlook Origins, stay tuned for more information on the line-up early in the New Year.

What about Outlook Origins will festival-goers look forward to most next summer?

There will be lots to look forward to next year; we'll have stages of music programmed alongside our Curators bringing their favourite artists, sounds and party-starters with us to The Garden. The Outlook Boat parties will be back in full-force, as well as beach parties, after-parties and so much more. We're confident Outlook fans old and new will experience something unforgettable!
