Festival of Croatian Drama: 27th Days of Marulić in Split Next Week!

Days of Marulić is the annual festival of Croatian drama and theater that celebrates Croatia’s most renowned poet, Marko Marulić. 

Hotel Cornaro will hold a press conference on Tuesday to announce the 27th edition of the festival of Croatian drama “Days of Marulić” which will be held in Split from April 20 - 28, 2017, reports Dalmacija Danas on April 14, 2017.

The 27th edition of the festival will be presented at the conference by director and intendant of the Croatian National Theater in Split Goran Golovko, teacher Igor Ružić, director of drama at HNK Split Trpimir Jurkić, and executive producer Jasen Boko.

Days of Marulić is held under the auspices and with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the City of Split and Split-Dalmatia County, and is organized by the Croatian National Theater in Split. Igor Ružić has decided on nine performances for the official festival program that will compete for festival awards.

This year’s selected performances are: 

"Melodrama", authors Anica Tomić and Jelena Kovačić, HNK Split

“Three winters”, Tena Štivičić, HNK Zagreb

“Men of Wax”, Mate Matišić, HNK Zagreb

"Nightlife”, Ivan Vidić, ZKM Zagreb

"Pad", Miran Kurspahić, ZKM Zagreb

"Ether over Berlin”, Pavlice Bajsić Brazzoduro, Multimedia hut, Zagreb and theater Ballhaus Ost (Berlin)

"Exorcism”, Dalibor Matanić , INK Pula

"Bitka na Neretvi", Boris Bakal, Shadow Casters, Zagreb

"Our violence and Your Violence”, Oliver Frljić, international co-productions HNK Ivana pl. Zajc (Rijeka), HAU Hebbel am Ufer (Germany), Wiener Festwochen (Austria), Slovenian Youth Theater (Slovenia), Kunstfest Weimar (Germany), Zürcher Theater Spektakel (Switzerland) and the MESS International Theater Festival (BiH), with the support of German Federal Cultural Foundation (Germany)

On the last day of the festival after the awards ceremony, Marin Držić from the Dubrovnik Theater will perform Rade Jarak’s drama “Duša od krumpira”.  The festival will also introduce drama workshops for the first time which will be led by Tomislav Zajec.
