KLM Lands First Flight in Split Over the Weekend!

By 24 April 2017

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has launched a new summer schedule for 2017, which has introduced a direct line between Split and Amsterdam.

KLM, which now flies to two destinations in Croatia (Zagreb and Split), has made the capital of the Netherlands more accessible than ever. With the announcement of a new summer schedule, passengers wanting to travel between Split and Amsterdam in the peak season will have the option to choose between 8 weekly flights, reports HRTurizam on April 24, 2017.

In the pre and post season, KLM will have direct lines from Split to Amsterdam on Saturdays and Sundays. Outside of the high season, the airline will fly the Embraer 90 with 100 seats, while during the peak season the Dutch airline will fly the Boeing 737 with 132 seats.

"This is a historic day for us because a KLM airplane has landed for the first time at Split Airport. With this flight today, we have directly connected two destinations in Croatia with the Dutch capital. This year, KLM celebrates its 98th anniversary, making it the world's oldest aviation company in the world that still uses the same name. We continue to keep the record thanks to constant innovations and modernizations,” said Yeshwant Pawar, General Director for the Alps and Central Europe.

KLM brings the world's widest network of destinations to Split. Together with Air France and other partners, KLM has flights to every corner of the world via their hubs in Amsterdam and Paris. KLM has a fleet of 160 aircraft, which connects Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport to over 200 destinations worldwide on all continents. Their Boeing 787 Dreamliner airplanes, which fly long distances between Amsterdam and several global destinations including New York, Toronto, Shanghai, and Beijing, now have a good connection from Split.

Schiphol offers a transfer of only 40 minutes between flights because of a special terminal that is adapted to the navigation of flights, making it the best European hub that has received a number of awards. KLM has also been honored with the World Airline Awards for the best cabin crew in the world.

"We want to offer our passengers more direct lines from Amsterdam to the destinations they choose. In 2017, KLM will present 8 new routes, which will ultimately link to 82 European destinations directly from Amsterdam," added Pawar.

KLM began linking to Split on April 22, 2017. The airline will begin with two flights a week, on Saturdays and Sundays. On these days, the flight will depart Amsterdam at 09:45 and arrive in Split at 12:00 local time. The return flight from Split is expected to take off at 12:50 local time and arrive in Amsterdam at 15:15.
