The average speed of an electric bus is 70 km / h and can go up to 200 kilometers between charges.
“The city of Split is planning to purchase new buses with an investment partly financed from EU funds and has already taken certain initiatives in order to prepare quality project documentation. I hope that with the arrival of the new city government the project will be realized and announced for the international tender for the purchase of new city buses,” said Špiro Cokarić, head of the Department of Communal Economy and Cleaning Duties in Split at yesterday’s presentation of the innovative and ecological electric buses by Polish manufacturer URSUS BUS, reports Dalmacija News on May 13, 2017.
In cooperation with the Polish Embassy in Croatia, the Department for the Promotion of Trade and Investment presented the company URSUS BUS yesterday on the Split Riva.
A test drive before the presentation with the Ursus City Smile model, which drives completely electric, confirmed that the bus actually showed excellent technical performance, said Promet Split director Tomislav Vojnović.
The average speed of an electric bus is around 70 km / h and can last up to 200 kilometers between charges, compared to about 250-300 km average with Split's bus fleet. The bus has a capacity of 80 places, of which there are 27 seats.
The Minister Counselor of the Department for the Promotion of Trade and Investment for the Polish Embassy in the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Marek Łyżwa, pointed out that in recent years, the value of trade exchange between Croatia and Poland has doubled, expressing the hope that the positive trend will continue and that one of the investments will be bringing the URSUS BUS to Split.
Vice president of URSUS BUS, Wojciech Kramar, said that all great cities switch to electric vehicles in public transport and expressed hope that Croatians will do the same.
“I’d like for the buses to be here in Split, in the center of Dalmatia,” Kramar said, while adding that the estimated value of the investment for the buses is between 25-30 million HRK.
“About 30% of the annual cost of the company Promet is related to the cost of fuel which electric buses do not have, so the investment in electric buses would be profitable within six years,” said Mr. Krešimir Budiša from UHY Consulting, the company partners of the Polish bus manufacturer.
“Today we present the future. Other cities are interested in this investment, therefore, the only question is whether we will take advantage of the opportunity and fight to the finish in Split,” he concluded.
