False Start at Laser Masters in Split

By 25 September 2017

The Laser Masters World Championship was set to kickstart on Sunday 24th September 2017, but unfortunately, blue skies spelt no breeze and races were postponed.

Just last week, the waters in front of Split saw a battle for the title of World Champion, which Cypriot Pavlos Kontides took out. The boys got in a few great racing days but red-alert weather for storms cancelled the final day of racing, leaving the results as they stood.

Yesterday, saw a similar problem; 350 Laser Class Master sailors from 35 different countries were due to hit the water for the beginning of the Laser Masters but unfortunately, the forecast of light winds, was closer to zero wind. A small breeze struck up but left just as quickly as it came around 2.30 pm.

After deliberation, the Race Committee postponed racing until today, as yet, there are no reports in on any racing or results.

It is a great honour to be hosting this event in Split and we look forward to following the event, good luck to all competitors!
