ZAGREB, July 26, 2018 - President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović on Wednesday met for a working meeting with the Croat member of the Bosnia and Herzegovina presidency Dragan Čović, who informed her of the current situation in that country and its European prospects, the president's office said in a press release.
Despite the fact that the election law in Bosnia and Herzegovina has not been amended, Croats in that country will continue to insist on the respect for the constitutional principle of legitimate representation at all administrative-political levels in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the press release cited Čović as saying.
Čović also underlined that the most important thing after the election was to preserve stability so that a new government is formed quickly and without any obstacles.
Čović informed Grabar-Kitarović among other things of the country presidency's initiative to organise a roundtable on the objectives of the UN Agenda 2030 sustainable development plan, to be held with the presidents of neighbouring countries – Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro as signatories of the Agenda 2030, which will also be an additional impetus for regional cooperation and drawing closer together. Bosnia and Herzegovina accessed Agenda 2030 in 2015.
President Grabar-Kitarović offered Croatia's full support to Bosnia and Herzegovina's internal development and for its progress toward European Union membership and to fully activate the Membership Action Plan (MAP), the press release from the president's office said.
A parliamentary election is scheduled in Bosnia and Herzegovina for October 7 and by midnight on Tuesday when the deadline to register in the electoral roll ended, more than 88,000 citizens living abroad registered to vote at the election, many of them, currently living in Croatia, a spokeswoman from the Bosnia and Herzegovina Central Election Commission (SIP) Maksida Pirić said on Wednesday.
